National Garfield the Cat Day!! #GarfieldTheCatDay

"National Garfield The Cat Day was first celebrated in 1998 on the 20th anniversary of the comic strip and Garfield’s birthday. Boca Raton City Council Member, Wanda Thayer, proclaimed June 19 as Garfield the Cat Day during surprise birthday party at the International Museum of Cartoon Art in Boca Raton." (My Dad's art is also featured in that museum!!)

I have always loved this snarky, lasagna obsessed cat. He remains one of my all time favorites!

    I always head for the Garfield cartoon every day in my newspaper. Yes, I still prefer to read my news out of a proper paper!

    Garfield's comic strip is the first I read and is usually the funniest too. Love Garfield. We have a poster of sorts with a cat hanging from a tree that says Hang In There!!(Not Garfield though). Garfield deserves to have a named for him.

      good question, I don't think so, if nothing else I believe his cartoons might still be circulating through syndication but not sure. Good question!

    Garfield has been a favorite for many years. Never missed the cartoon in the newspaper.

    Oh I loved Garfield as a kid ( and even still) He was one of my favorite cartoon characters on Saturday morning TV. I just loved his non-chaulant attitude. Lol All this time and I never knew about this special day!

    We love Garfield but TW used to confuse him with Heathcliff. Remember Heathcliff? He don't get no love.
