"National Napping Day is observed annually the day following the return of daylight saving time. National Napping Day provides everyone with the opportunity to have a nap and catch up on the hour of sleep they lost due to the spring forward time change."
"Numerous studies have shown that short 10-20 minute naps are the most effective when midday fatigue hits. Improvements in alertness, productivity and mood have all been shown to improve with this type of snooze."
"William Anthony, Ph.D., a Boston University Professor and his wife, Camille Anthony, created National Napping Day in 1999 as an effort to spotlight the health benefits to catching up on quality sleep. “We chose this particular Monday because Americans are more ‘nap-ready’ than usual after losing an hour of sleep to daylight saving time,” Anthony said"
My Mom is screwed because she stays up til all hours of the morning watching mindless TV and then gets up at no later than 7am. She will be crabby for at least a week because she NEVER takes naps!
I just think it's funny because they made a day named after what kitties are smart enough to do EVERY DAY!!
Love, Cody
You are so right, Cody! We need our naps, and so do those beings that we own...though like my petcretary they never seem to have enough...and crabby isnot the right word, MOL, MOL!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great nap, and since its after midnight I need to mrouw at *her to get herself into her own nest...but now is the time that believe it or not the internet started up on its own...for who knows how long...sigh...
We kitties are nap experts! My human naps in the afternoon if she has not gotten enough sleep the night before... sometimes it's for more than 20 minutes!
ReplyDeleteLove that last picture, Cody!
ReplyDeleteI am a very poor sleeper and rarely get to sleep before 5.30am. At least being retired I don't have to get up early and usually struggle to surface about 8.30. I nearly always have a nap after lunch which keeps me going.
One thing I know fur sure Cody, you can count us in on the nap thing!
ReplyDeleteMy wife can nap but I have never been able to to do that unless I am extremely tired.
ReplyDeleteIt's time for our power nap under the sunpuddle (yay!).
ReplyDeleteEmma and Buster
Not a fan of naps as a human. I like to just power thru the day and evening until I finally pass out from exhaustion. The cats sleep all day and do, who knows what, when I am asleep?
ReplyDeleteI am like you and then I stay up til 1:30am or 2am.......it isn't good to do what I do!
DeleteI rarely take a nap. I'm always busy with something. Oh well, naps are good.
ReplyDeleteHave a purrfect day napping. My best to your mom. ♥
Cody, I took a nap yesterday, while resting on the futon. I had a cat on my legs, and an audiobook plugged into my ears, but I lost a chapter or two....
ReplyDeleteA nap with a cat is the best :)
ReplyDeleteA cat as a pillow always makes a nap extra snugly!
ReplyDeleteWell, every day is napping day for us cats...but it’s nice to have a day to really celebrate it.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you Cody! I love taking an afternoon nap whenever I can :)
ReplyDeleteI'm like your Mom - staying up late to watch TV (there is so much to watch on Netflix!). Then Athena wakes me up really early in the morning but at least we get to nap together in the afternoon. Catnaps are the best!
ReplyDeletePurrs xx

Every day is nap day around here for Dad, Luke, and Samantha! I, however, rarely take a nap, so I'll be tired all week too!
ReplyDeleteOh, everyday is nap day at our house!
ReplyDeleteI love a good nap. So do the cats, of course!
ReplyDeleteI might or might now take more catnaps than my cats ;)
