Last weekend my husband and I were attending a beautiful family wedding in Chicago. My dearest friend, Cheryl was pet sitting for Cody and Dakota as she has MANY times before, and she ALWAYS does a SUPERB job (Cody would disagree but she did a great job this time as well and we are blessed to have her!!) Saturday morning I called home to see how everything was going, and the second I heard Cheryl's voice I knew immediately that she was NOT happy.
The main NEWS was that Cody woke her up at FOUR IN THE MORNING. (In defense of Cody, that is my husband's fault entirely. When he substitute teaches he gets up at 4 am and feeds the boys. Yes, it is summer, and my husband doesn't substitute teach in the summer, but because he is
The main problem is Cheryl had taken a muscle relaxer for an issue she was having, and was looking forward to sleeping in. In Cody's world, sleeping in IS NOT AN OPTION!!!
When my husband and I returned home we found this note:
"Hi Caren and Lenny,
Everything went better (than the first night). Cody was a little mad at me because I wouldn't give him a bunch of food. He will tell you I was mean but I wasn't LOL. Hope you had a good time, Dakota was awesome, he didn't complain at all. He was a trooper. Love, Cheryl"
CODY'S REBUTTAL: "I was a "little" mad? I was ENRAGED! I am used to my evening snack starting at 10 pm and the snacks continue every 15 minutes after that until 11 pm. OF COURSE "Sheltie Boy" was a trooper and didn't complain. He kisses up to everyone. I don't kiss up because I don't have to! I did tell Mom and Dad you were mean because when Mom and Dad are here I RULE. I love you Cheryl and so does Mom and Dad and Dakota, but YOU need to realize who is boss around here! I was simply doing what any self-respecting kitty would do. I RULE THIS HOUSE AND YOU NEED TO GET WITH THE PROGRAM!! "
MOL! Just because your humans are gone, your routine carries on, right, Cody?
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY!!! She needs to understand that!
DeleteOh, boy, did you say this was one of your mama's best friends? Uh, oh....
ReplyDeleteYep!! MOL! MOL! MOL!!
DeleteYou sure told them all abut what you were thinking, MOL!
ReplyDeleteGlad you have a most awesome pet sitter! Imagine if you would have had to go into a so called spa...and yes I know all about those:(
Hisses!
We are trying to catch up, so we haven't posted comments in your other posts...furgive us...
Please do NOT feel bad about not commenting! We are waaay behind ourselves! For nearly a month TONS of blogs stopped coming to our inbox, our new granddaughter was born 20 days early on August 10th (hoping to blog about that next week), we were out of town last weekend...and...with everything being so hectic I just wasn't in the mood to blog AT ALL. So please, please do NOT feel bad!!! Everyone gets busy and we totally understand! xoxo
DeleteLol this had be rollin'! Cody! Next time go easy on mom's friend. Remember never let em see you sweat. Get the pet sitter to love you = treats and chin scratches
ReplyDeletethat is great in theory but she is more "team dog" MOL!!
DeletePoor Cody....tortured by the pet sitter....well, there's two sides to every story Cody and we're on YOUR SIDE of course!
ReplyDeleteHugs, TEddy
It's the same thing around here. We dogs are well behaved and happy, the cats cause trouble for the pet sitter.
ReplyDeleteYAY KITTIES!!! MOL MOL MOL!!
DeleteChris is a 4 a.m. cat too. It's amazing how they can tell time.
ReplyDeleteyep it is amazing and it is also amazing how much Chris and I have in common!! Love, Cody
DeleteCody, we totally believe you! MOL!
ReplyDeleteTell your mom we got the cat coloring book yesterday and love, love, love it! It's even pawtographed by Susan Hall!
Ohhh I am sooooooo happy it arrived and that you love it!!! Sooooooo happy!
DeleteOh dear lord, it sounds like Cody has some Labrador in him. :-) sounds like a chocolate girl I know.
ReplyDeleteMOL! MOL! MOL!!!!
DeleteBwahahahahahahaha. Cody threw a hissyfit. That's what he did.
ReplyDeleteI linked this post to Feline Friday.
Have a purrfect day, Cody. My best to your peeps. ♥♥♥
He sure did!! Thanks so much Sandee! I have to start remembering the Feline Friday blog hop, I am lucky I even got a post up, let alone remembering! I will do better moving forward!! Love you! xoxo
DeleteCody, Cody, Cody! I'm thinking that you and Angel received your training from the same cat teachers...
ReplyDeleteyep and that's why we love Angel so much!
DeleteMOL! Way to go Cody, stick to what works for you!
ReplyDeleteExactly!!
DeleteLOL, you showed her who was boss!
ReplyDeleteWell, Cody, that was an OUTRAGE of the first order. I think you should be rewarded for refraining from rendering her all bloody with your ten front needles and many very sharp teefs. If she can't stick with the Program, Food on Demand TM, then your Mom should FIRE HER right now and look for a better caretaker for you. Better yet, your Dad should always stay home with you. Why do Humans have to go do stuff anyway??
ReplyDeleteEeek Spitty!!! That might be a little harsh MOL!!! Cheryl is Mom's best friend here in Michigan and we DO love her! You are tough Spitty! Actually Dad couldn't stay home because it was HIS cousin who got married MOL!!!!
DeletePoor Cody! I do the same, waking up Mum at 4am for some treats. If the loud meows don't work I start paw pounding the wardrobe :)
ReplyDeletePurrs xx
Athena and Marie
Oh my Athena I am SHOCKED!! mom and I always thought you were the purrfect lady!!! Actually, I love you even MORE now! MOL! Love, Cody xoxo
DeleteSo Cody ... your Mum and Dad left without leaving instructions to you sitter ?
ReplyDeleteThat's a real shame.
How can you survive without your evening treats ?
4 am is my favorite time to wake up my human. But it's not for food. It's for a big cuddle ! I have "à volonté" food.
Ronrons
Hisia
Are you kidding me? My Mom OF COURSE left notes all over the kitchen!!!! My Mom always writes pages and pages of notes, ALWAYS! I just wanted more than what I am SUPPOSED to have!
DeleteLOL!!! Oh Cody...you and Waffles sure have lot in common! Yesterday Glogirly was working outside, cutting down trees, digging in the rock-hard dirt. She was so tired and sore when she went to bed. She took a muscle relaxant and *planned* on sleeping in. 4:30 am, Waffles decided it was time for an extra early breakfast. You kitties...it's a good thing you're so incredibly cute!
ReplyDeleteOMG this is too funny! That's like what happened to Cheryl! Oh Waffles!!!!!!! PS: Glogirly, I am hoping you are feeling better!!!
DeleteEverybody knows that cats rule the house. Do I have to get up at six am? No. Can I sleep through someone repeatedly patting my cheek and eyes with claws slightly extended? Nope.
ReplyDelete(fortunately Rufus doesn't mind having his claws trimmed or I'd be in real trouble!)
xxoo
(sigh) Cody, us cats are totally on your side and we have our Daddy well trained. Our Mommy is mean and tells us to GO BACK TO SLEEP, that she isn't getting up at 3:30AM to feed us breakfast. And FENRIS TAKES HER SIDE. Fenris always takes her side and never complains about anything, really...
ReplyDeleteOMC you guys wake everyone up at 3:30am too? MOL MOL MOL! I love it!! Fenris is just like Dakota! These woofies need to get with the program!!
DeleteDear Cody, I think you need to update your list of requirements and have it prominently displayed where everyone can see, and no one can have any excuses for failing to comply!
ReplyDeletethat is a most pawesome idea!! Well Mom DID list all of my snacks :) (and meals too!)
DeleteWe cats are incorrigible (did I spell that right?) creatures of habit. So Cody, you're not to be blamed for anything! - IMHO, that is. Tom x
ReplyDeleteI think you spelled that right and even if you didn't, as long as you aren't blaming me, it's all good! Love, Cody
DeleteWhat a friend! It's a wonder she didn't resign after that first 4 am wake-up call.
ReplyDeleteThis is totally hilarious! Cody, good on you for sticking to your guns and putting your paw down! We agree with you, your schedule does not change! The Lady Cat is going to be on vacation in January for 5 weeks and leaving the Man Cat in charge. He keeps saying mean things like "When the lady is gone, no more treats at 11pm for you lot!" so we are not looking forward to that! I am also known to have a very demanding piercing meow like a baby!
ReplyDeletehigh five from Mr. Jack and the Chirpies
Thank you!! Oh I can't wait to see how those 5 weeks play out! MOL!! The Man Cat in charge sounds like my pet sitter!!!!!! Oh this is gonna be good! We send love to Mr.Jack and the Chirpies! xoxo
DeleteCody, we're on your side. You were just doing what you always do.
ReplyDeletethank you and you got it!
DeleteWe totally agree with you Cody.
ReplyDeleteDifferent humans are no fun when they don't understand the "rules".
Glad you survived!
Purrs Georgia,Julie and JJ
Exactly!!!!
DeleteHigh paw, dude! Doesn't matter what hoomins are in the house, it's YOUR HOUSE and your schedule. Oh, and if that sitter doesn't want her stuff whapped, she shouldn't leave it around where any paw could get it.
ReplyDeleteI salute you!! I sooooooooo agree with you!! High paw right back at ya!!! Love, Cody
DeleteWe don't buy it for a second, Cody. We mean, you definitely CAN man up and teach the humans a lesson, but we think you choose not to ;)
ReplyDeleteLook at that innocent little face...we don't believe a thing!
ReplyDeletePoor Cody. You need a better sitter that will cater to your every whim.XO
ReplyDeleteCody you make me so proud to be a member of the Fine Feline Species. We do what we do because that is the proper way to do them. The two leggers need to adjust.
ReplyDelete4am breakfast is purrfectly reasonable after all you need about 2 hours before your morning snack a 6 am. And Snack time is IMPAWTANT...must be like clock work
Hugs madi Proud to be Feline
Madi Mom and I are laughing like crazy that we need a snack 2 hours before our 6am breakfast!! I LOVE how you think! Love, Cody xoxo
DeleteLOL,Cody, you're welcome at house where Clyde insists on early morning breakfasts at 4am. Naturally the others join in and hubby serves them.
ReplyDeleteLayla...Dad DOES feed me at 4am...that's what caused the problem :)
DeleteYour feeding schedule should be the first thing listed on the folder for the house/pet sitter, right? Cody did you at least give her a headbutt?
ReplyDeleteEmma and Buster
MOL MOL...I think next time your peeps have to take you, wherever they go, Cody...MOL :D Good work boy! Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend :) <3
ReplyDeleteHmm- kitty, 4am, dad, food- sounds about right to me! I'm telling you, as soon as these dang humans figure out that yes, the world does revolve around our schedule the better off they'll be. Get with the program, y'all!
ReplyDeleteCody, we feel ya! Our mom and dad actually keep a little bit of food on the dresser to feed super senior Gracie in the middle of the night. MOL! - Gracie and Ava
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, Cody. Breaking in a new servant is tough work. She doesn't realize you are boss.
ReplyDeleteEmpathetic purrs,
Winston and Emily
We totally believe you, Cody ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteYou obviously have a routine that works for you, Cody, and woe betide anyone who tries to break it.
ReplyDeleteCody...You ROCK! I shall add you suggestions to my master list! BUT now I am wondering what Kozmo will say when he gets home with his Dad!

You just won Crystal And Daisy Mae's Blogger Recognition Award
ReplyDeleteMOL, this gave me such a good laugh!! CODY, sheesh! Poor Cheryl. Humans must adjust to the cat’s feeding time and quantity, I guess, right?!?
ReplyDeleteAwesome! MOL you gotta tell them who's boss, Cody! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I think if I need to hire a pet sitter, she will experience the same thing :) My cat always wake me up before 6 a.m for snacks, and he always has something on his bowl right before I go to bed. If he doesn't, he will meow till he gets what he wants :)
ReplyDeleteinstagram
I totally get you, Cody! That Miss Cheryl, though nice she very well may be, missed every direct clue you gave her. How more clear does a kitty need to be?! I guess you might have to paw up a contract fur her to sign before she takes the job next time! Like you, I expect a meal during the early am hour, too, but I don't always get served. That just means one more bottle or drinking glass that will be put to the gravity test and the alarm clock going off at random! Tee hee hee! Winks.
