Now, here is the story, the OurPets Twirl & Whirl is a scratching post or cat tree attachment that was created to bring out our hunter instinct! One important point is it was primarily created to be used on a SISAL scratching post. Why Sisal? Because for kitties who like to scratch it gives them a place to scratch where they are ALLOWED to scratch, (rather than scratching chairs, sofas, etc.). Your favorite scratching spot becomes action packed play! You can scratch, bat and claw to your heart's content without hearing "NO!!!" Sisal is super "scratchable". Mom prefers it rather than a carpeted cat tree because carpet on a tree (in her opinion) can lead to scratching the regular carpet. (Once again, that is just Mom's opinion.)
Now, remember when I mentioned sisal above? Well, I no longer have a sisal scratching post because even though I have claws, I'm not really a scratchin' kind of a guy. So Mom first tried this on my normal cat tree. and......after not using a Sisal post she did another wrong thing, she installed it UPSIDE DOWN!
MOM: "Actually no Cody. I thought so at first too, but then when I read the instructions (which is the HELPFUL thing to do) I read that it can be installed with the feather pointing either UP or DOWN, which is what I did. So there! You were intrigued by it BOTH WAYS Mr. Smarty Fur!"
In the top photo on the left it shows that when you press the little button (the toy requires 2 AAA batteries which are not included) the feather moves in an unpredictable way. It spins, and entices, just what kitties like! It's like their prey!
Ok kitties, then, Mom decided to attach the OurPets Twirl & Whirl Electronic Spinning Interactive Cat Toy on my other cat tree which is located in Mom and Dad's bedroom. This time, she attached it CORRECTLY (there is one Sisal Post on that cat tree and Mom tried it on one with Sisal and one without)
CODY: "Mom!! Take a look at these photos! These don't show the sisal post!"
MOM: "Relax Cody, the sisal post is in the back of the tree so it was harder for you to access, that is why I did it this way. Truth be told, you actually seemed to have preferred it on your other tree, facing in the opposite direction, so...the box was right! You can use it BOTH WAYS!!
But, if it will make you happy, let's share a video from OurPets that shows grateful, FUN kitties that are enjoying this clever toy!"
MOM: "Um, Cody, did you notice in the video that the cat tree does NOT have a Sisal scratching post? AND...those kitties are REALLY enjoying themselves! I will have to agree with you though, that they seem like younger kitties and not an 11 year old lazy you-know-what. I think those kitties appreciate the toys they have. See Cody, you DID need my help with this review after all! "
CODY: "Chill Mom, isn't there a dog that lives here that you have to go and bug instead of me? I have to tell my furiends something special!!"

ReplyDeleteAnd I agree - your momma should go bother the dog.
MOL!MOL! MOL!!
DeleteI think it looks like fun! I bet Boodie would like it too - she is 17, but she is still very playful.
ReplyDeleteWow I can't believe Boodie is 17!! OMG! Cody is still extremely playful...he just prefers hunting with the prey on the ground I think (hidden and wiggling like the last OurPets toy we featured). But....since each cat is different, I am sure the vast majority will love this toy!
DeleteMinko would have adored that! Me?? I am kind of like you Cody...MOL! I still play and scratch, but not too much...I like to watch the doings of those feathered critters outside, then I paw the window to exercise my paws, MOL!!!
ReplyDeleteMOL! MOL! MOL!!
DeleteLooks like fun, Cody!
ReplyDeletePurrs xx
Athena and Marie
Looks fun, but once again, cat bro Bert would rip those feathers out right away and then the fun would be over. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThat is great kitty toy, Cody!
ReplyDeleteWe think we should start pestering our Mom to buy us one!
yes you should! Check the links on the other OurPets toys that I featured where you can also get a rebate, I listed them above.
DeleteOh Cody, that could be a fun toy indeed!
ReplyDeleteIf you love it Cody then every kitty will love it.
ReplyDeleteHave a purrfect day. My best to your mom. ♥♥♥
Awww you are sweet! xoxo
DeleteManny and CB would go bats**t crazy for this toy! Thanks for the review, Cody!
ReplyDeleteyou are welcome!!
DeleteToo cute! Sad to say, our old kitties no longer play much. ~sigh~ This looks like fun. Be well. And have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun!!! You never know, it might spur them into action! You have a lovely weekend too!
DeleteIt takes a lot to motivate an older cat (oops, I don't mean you, Cody) to romp. They have so many other pressing matters to attend to... This would be great for a shelter where there are so many youngsters this time of the year.
ReplyDeleteGreat review, Cody and Caren. By the way, some of the toys that need batteries make a lot of noise. How was this one?
xxoo
Maggie, Mickey Mouser, and Rufus the Red
MOL!! Cody is still active, he is just super choosy about what he "exerts" himself on lol. Most of his exercise involves stretching lol! This isn't a noisy toy at all......it does make a sound but nothing annoying. The bird toy that we featured DOES chirp but I think it is too cute. Also, yes I agree with you that for a shelter with kittens/younger cats it would be ideal!!
DeleteWe have this toy. It's so much fun!
ReplyDeleteThat does look like fun- for younger kitties :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lot of fun. No matter what your mom says, you did a great review, Cody.
ReplyDeleteMOL!! Thank you!!!
DeleteWe love your reviews, Cody! We think you did a great job! This looks like fun and we're 12!
ReplyDeleteAwww thank you so much!!!
DeleteThis toy does look like fun. I wonder if it is at Petsmart here in Prince George? Also what is the price? Cody you did a very informative review of the Twirl and Whirl.
ReplyDeleteShoko
thank you!!! If you go to the OurPets website it lists prices...not sure about Prince George
DeleteLooks like you've still got it, Cody! You taught that feather (and your Mom) a lesson! I want to try a few of their toys ... namely the Mouse in a Pouch and Catty Whack. My cats need more exercise and these look like fun!
ReplyDeleteI reached out to Our Pets after the first post and I never heard back from their marketing department :(
We're glad you enjoy the new toy! Nothing quite like a new toy, right?
Now this looks fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Have a great weekend...
Noodle and crew
