Then, they post this photo of a
 COMPLETELY CRAZED LOOKING CAT!!!

KITTIES HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT GUY ABOVE
LOOKS LIKE HE EITHER
OVERDID THE NIP
OR HAD ONE TOO MANY
VACCINES!!!

The ONLY bright spot is that Mom is going to talk to "Dr.Smiley" and find out how necessary these vaccines are, (and this time I am NOT having both together if I have them, I got super sick last time when I had three together because Mom was an idiot and let me have all three together. This time there are only two, but Mom will still have them separated if I have to have them at all, but that means not ONE trip to the Vet but TWO!!! ).  Vaccines or no vaccines,  Mom says I HAVE to go to the Vet regardless because I need my yearly exam and I am in dire need of having my claws trimmed. Kitties, if your humans want to leave a comment telling me what you think of those vaccines I will pass it on to my Mom. Maybe I don't have to have them? Mom says she is going to call the Vet on Friday, so I need your help ASAP!!!!

Kitties I am BEGGING YOU!!! I do NOT want a re-enactment of this photo showing "Dr.Smiley" and his evil assistant in their evil laboratory! Just look at my paw above I wanted to WHAP them good!!!

HELPPPPPPPPPP!!
Love, Cody

  1. Maybe you could mark it as spam Cody and the emails will quit coming! The only vaccines we get are those required by law, here it is rabies.

    1. Brian that is BRILLIANT! I will have to do that! Mom says thank you for your comment, I think rabies is a law here too, I am going to be sure that Mom sees your comment and I THANK YOU! Love, Cody

    1. Well, tell Mr.Cat I am actually really well-behaved there, but I don't love it like my Sheltie brother does. I don't meow in the car and I do act like a gentleman there, but I don't like it! If I can get out of those vaccines I will let you know for sure!! Love, Cody

  3. I've never had a kitty that wanted to leave the house, but they really hate going to the vet. They hate it a lot.

Have a purrfect day, Cody and make sure we know what is going to happen. ♥♥♥

  4. "We" are excited .... Why don't "they" just meet up for a coffee or whatever humans like doing when they're catching up after a not-too-long time (you sure don't think it was a looooong time since you've been there)?

Hm. You could break something very expensive. Money rules the human world, and if you're lucky, she needs to save money for something else. Unplock the fridge/freezer when they're gone? Moisture damage can be veeeery expensive, and her insurance probably doesn't cover feline destruction!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Oh you are a GENIUS!! Love the freezer idea! Yeah, I was there maybe early Fall last year? If not Fall, definitely summer. I LOVE your coffee idea too! Love, Cody

  5. Am anti-vaccine, and only get rabies shots in our friendly ferals if and when they go to the vet. In Michigan, a cat bite is reported to the state, and if there isn't a current rabies shot on the books, then they can quarantine the cat for 90 days, at the owner's expense. Take care, Cody!

    1. Thanks much for your comment! We always do rabies (and have done the others), I know that many out there are "anti vaccine" that is why I wanted to ask. Rabies is a no-brainer, I wouldn't dream of NOT doing that one. I am probably going to try and get Cody out of the others.

    2. Hehe. Keep us posted! We just had a water damage in the kitchen, and it cost about 50 000 € ... However, you may dislike all the noise that comes along with opening concrete walls. And then again, Mom just said that if you've to pay 50 000 €, a vet bill doesn't make any difference. (Luckily, our moisture damage was covered by our human's insurance!)

  6. Hi Cody. I don't want to get into a debate about vaccines. The boys were vaccinated as kittens, both rounds, and I think they've each had an additional distemper (Nicki for sure, several years ago) that I gave in on, but otherwise I've avoided them. How old are you now, Cody? Sorry, we don't remember. There's some research out there suggesting that senior cats shouldn't be vaccinated anymore. I remember reading that years ago too, in regard to Annie. (I did have Chum and Annie vaccinated regularly, and that was back in the day when they did them every year--i.e. over-vaccinated.)

Whatever your mom decides is best for you Cody, good luck!

  8. Binga got sick from vaccines, so my human avoids giving them to her. I have to be a little more diligent about mine because I travel and I'm a therapy cat.

Has your human considered doing titers on you? If you are still immune, you won't have to get them again, at least not for now.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ok I sound like an idiot but what are titers???????????? Cody only got sick once and that was totally my fault. My Vet had suggested at that time NOT to have all 3 at once, I said "oh he was fine last time and it will save us a trip" will NEVER do that again. Cody got soooooo sick and I felt so guilty. I am obviously, definitely going to ask my Vet if he needs anything but rabies, but I respect your opinion. Most of you have had MORE cats than me and have had them your entire lives. I have only had two cats. I seriously don't recall Bobo having any shots other than rabies.

      Delete
    2. Titers are tests that tell you the level of antibodies to a certain disease are in Cody's blood. If they're high enough, he's covered and shouldn't need a vaccine. It's worth asking about! We did Faraday's this year that way - and no vaccine.

      Delete
  9. Oh bummer pal. M says that out of 4 of her cats thru the years, no one had a problem with any of the shots. But we have read where many have had problems. So, we'll be talking to our vet this year too. M says your mom should just follow her own heart and do what she feels is best for you and Cody.

  10. Oh dear me I recently rec'd a similar piece of mail and to add insult to injury that said Madi needs her senior check up! I was at the vet for my tummy last Friday they poked and prodded and stuck a thermometer in a place the sun don't shine. I was not happy.
MOL on your comment about the Cliff Palaces. The heat was by far HORRID absolutely HORRID.

  15. Tell your Mom that it could very well be "spam" mail. I hope you don't have to have all those vaccines at once even though it might mean you have to go in twice! That is better than getting sick. Just make sure tuna fish is the ending reward before you agree to go in or paw (sign) anything. I had a bad reaction to a rabies vaccine a few years back, so Mom doesn't make me get it anymore. I don't mind getting shots, but I absolutely hate getting my blood drawn or pee dee taken. What we kitties put up with...

    ReplyDelete
  16. *Sigh* we always get phone calls telling us that we need to get shots that aren't necessary for indoor cats. We actually had to change vets because they kept trying to over sell to us.... Boo :(

    ReplyDelete
  17. Cody, delete that message before your mom sees it!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hit delete, but be sure to check the regular mail too. Our vet sends both kinds of reminders.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh noes! That does not sound like a good time at all! Maybe they really meant Dakota and not Cody. Yeah, that's it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sorry, pal, but when a human sets her mind on a ... um, you know what visit, she's going to get her own way no matter how much we beg out. Perhaps you will only end up with one visit. We're on your side, Cody.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Quick, Cody, hit "delete." And make sure you empty the trash, too!

    ReplyDelete
  22. We used to let our kitties have all that were recommended...but now our vet says to only do the truly needed ones. And yes, by all means check the titers...aka the level of immunity still inn the blood that would maybe mean no shots at all are needed.

Here if any are needed, we separate them, cause our Angel Toki had a bad reaction to them given all at once like you experienced with Cody. Toki hid for days, would not eat and so on...by the way, after that I even separated vaccines for the unfurs here, when they want to give four or more all at once?? Nope. not if I can say anything about it. Now I would be considered a bad mom, but if there were more babies here (nope that will not happen, LOL), I might even opt out of vaccines for them.
I myself do not even get a flu shot anymore becasue my compromised immune system cannot deal with them and I get horrible reactions.
Having said that I have not had more than a simple cold for many years...though sometimes those turn into bronchitis. Have not missed any work for three years:)

Blah-blah-blah...sorry to take over with so many words:)

Hope you can figure it out for dear Cody. Meanwhile tell him to seek out a new and obscure hidey hole!

  24. Oh Cody I'm sorry your vet says you need to be STABBED.....My Mom says the titer panel is the answer though - totally inside kitties don't need the kinds of protection kitties who go outside do (usually). I hope you can avoid the needle this time around!!

  30. Cody, you do indeed look as if you are ready to whap the evil doc and his assistant. We know our vet let some of us skip the distemper this last time saying that research has shown that after a certain age it is no longer indicated. 34. Oh, that last picture! Those evil people are enjoying torturing you WAY too much! Mudpie had a 3 year rabies vaccine in December (I rejected the others since she's an indoor, only cat) and 3 years from now we will have a serious discussion about the rabies too. I don't care if it's the law or not. She had swelling at the injection site for 6 weeks after and I was a nervous wreck that it was an injection site sarcoma developing. I felt it multiple times a day even though the vet said it wasn't an unusual reaction. Thankfully it seemed to disappear overnight but it made me a basketcase.

  36. I just came home from there earlier. I was sleeping in my new bed and next thing I know mom stuffs me in my carrier and off we go. They are all so happy at the evil place and they put big fish tanks up to try and make us kitties think it's cool and their treats are terrible!!! I only had to have my rabies and a few other routine things done that I don't let Mom do because she's not a good nail cutter or butt shaver. I will admit did the younger girls there are very nice to me but I don't understand why I need my temperature taken to get my nails clipped I think they just like using that thermometer like you said evil evil evil! Those shots aren't required here but I get them. Only one at a time so I haven't ever gotten sick nor have any of my brothers or sisters. We only do one shot at a time ever because my brother throws up over everything so Mom says better safe than sorry. Mom says that she thinks you should get your shots but spread them out because you do need them to stay healthy and then when you get home you can demand to get spoiled like I'm doing now! I'm not leaving mom alone to get any work done because I'm demanding to be pet and hand-fed treats for the trauma that I had to go through today. I wish you luck with that creepy Smiley guy and I hope you don't get sick good luck I feel your pain!

Mom is spreading out Dakota's other two shots. I have to have my yearly exam so I am sure I will be joining Dakota on one of his visits. I will find out if I need my other two vaccines, soon! 37. Raven is a 99% indoor kitty with supervised trips to the backyard with no contact with other animals. She gets the Merial 1 year PureVax rabies vaccine because Mom thinks it is safer than the "standard" 3-year rabies vaccines that contain adjuvants. The vet has to order it for us because he doesn't keep in in stock (it's a bit more expensive and most people opt for the 3-year cheaper brands). Merial also has a 3 year version but the vet saw no advantage since Raven goes in at least once a year for wellness exams or other issues. I would prefer to not vaccinate for rabies that often, but it's the law here and not worth the risk of dealing with any legal issues.
We stopped FVRCP vaccine in 2010. I'd consider boostering her if I were to bring more cats into the house.

  39. I think your Mom is definitely looking out for you, Cody. I would have to look through records, but I think there are only one or two vaccines that indoor cats need to get, at the most. Especially being an indoor, only cat, I would not be afraid to skip them completely (my opinion). Sam doesn't get any now because of her health issues, and our dog Cricket doesn't get any either because of reactions she had. We know your Mom will do what's best for you! And you do need to go to have everything else checked out! We would not have known about Sam's hyperthyroidism if the vet hadn't caught it during her annual exam.
