I'm tired.
I'm feeling out-of-sorts, cranky and off schedule (yep even being unemployed I DO have a schedule thank you very much!).
I'm TIRED!
I can't concentrate.
I'm T-I-R-E-D!!
Many of us in the U.S. and Canada follow Daylight Saving Time. It was bad enough when the clocks were turned ahead an hour the last week of April, now the dreaded "spring-ahead-an-hour-and-want-to-scream-at-everyone-around-you-because-you-are-TIRED-event" (for me at least), takes place the second week of March. Couldn't "they" (whoever "they" ARE, leave well enough alone?)
While much of the rest of the country are preparing to tip-toe through their Spring tulips and are giggling at the prospect of longer days to come, those of us like myself who already don't get enough sleep, (I am often up til the wee hours of the morning and then I awaken early) are seething.
I'm tired.
I need my sleep.
Ironically while I am sitting here at 12:20am, which to me is 11:20pm..(mentally changing the time when I look at the clock is a little game I will be playing for at least the next week), all I can hear is the tick, tick, tick of the wall clock in front of me...it's ticking beginning to sound like "Ha...ha...ha... I... got.... you".
Don't mess with my clock, my routine, my internal alarm, don't mess with my sleep-deprived self!
You are probably asking "what in the heck does ANY of this have to do with cats? Isn't this a CAT BLOG for Pete's sake?"
Don't mess with me.
I told you... I'm TIRED!
I'm feeling out-of-sorts, cranky and off schedule.
"Cats don't like change
without their consent."
Roger Caras
For the record....neither do I!
Now, if you'll kindly excuse me, I am going to bed. It's 1:15am or 12:15am or whatever it is and I'm TIRED!
I'm rebelling...no clocks in this house are moving forward until I wake up tomorrow...at my usual hour. Much rather lose an hour of the day than precious sleep!
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing. I set my alarm for 6:30 (but it was 7:30 with the new time), but...by getting up at 6:30 I still had the same amount of sleep that I normally get. Will try that this week and see how I feel. I didn't fix the clocks til I got up, the phone changes automatically and that is where I set my alarm.
DeleteWe wish they would abandon Daylight Savings time!
ReplyDeletewe do too!
Deletego back to sleep and rest up...Spring is coming,xx Speedy
ReplyDeleteMy human LOVES the extra hour of daylight (since she is never up in time to see the sun rise or even an hour after it has risen, it is truly an extra hour to her). So for her, it is worth the hour of lost sleep.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe hate it when they keep changing the time although we do prefer the summer days best.
ReplyDeleteWe think that time-changing silliness is just plain DUMB! Oh well - whatcha gonna do?
ReplyDeleteLove, Angel Sam and Ted
I hate losing an hour too. I still woke up too early this morning. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteSue B
I actually set the alarm for 6:30.....(it was really 7:30 with the new time) but gave me the same amount of sleep I normally get.......will probably do that for the next week and see if that helps! You have a great day too!
DeleteWe think this is long outdated and don't see the point of it any more. The province of Saskatchewan doesn't change time, and neither do a number of other parts of Canada, mostly in northern areas country-wide. It's time (no pun intended) to do away with the time changes every spring and fall!
ReplyDeleteWe like the extra sun at the end of the day.
ReplyDeleteWe wish they would leave it this way and not change it in the Fall!

I feel your pain. Why do they have to do this in March, for crying out loud???
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't see why they have to do it AT ALL, but if they do, then put it back in April where it belongs lol
DeleteLove your post - you have me laughing and shaking my head up and down in aggreement with you. I wish they would leave the time thing alone. Even Mario gets confused on the ttime.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I absolutely HATE it and wish they would get rid of it! There is no need for it!!!
DeleteAs I sit here staring at my computer all bleary-eyed, I feel you. It will take me all week to feel back to normal again. I play the same game with the clock too, and I'll also do that all week!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely affects the animals too...they will be all confused as to when their meal times are!
Humans should stop messing with the time, period, end of story, start of nap!
ReplyDeleteExactly!!
DeleteWe agree wholeheartedly. Well, except Gracie and Zoe let us sleep a little longer this morning. :)
ReplyDeleteWe agree! Get rid of Daylight Saving Time!
ReplyDeleteI would do just about anything to stop the insanity of Daylight Savings. I will be overly tired all week. Like you, I don't always get enough sleep but I'm also always tired.
ReplyDeleteAmen Sistah!!! I could NOT agree more! (((hugs)))
DeleteIf they would just leave the time alone I would be a happy camper too. I hate this change.
ReplyDeleteHave a purrfect day. My best to your wonderful mom. ♥♥♥
I hate it too!!!! Have a pawfect (and not sleepy) day!! xoxo
DeleteSo know what you are talking about!!! I hate this and so do the cats! They hate being off schedule--they keep looking at me as though this is my fault!
ReplyDeleteMOL! MOL! MOL!! Cody came into the kitchen for his noon snack at his usual time....it WAS 12 noon on the NEW time but it was 11am on the OLD time........how in the world did he know the time changed? lol
DeleteI much prefer the fall back part.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice because the night comes later. But to wake up is a nightmare...
ReplyDeleteFor us it will be at the end of March.
Bon courage.

Oh no, we hate to lose one hour too ! Daylight Savings is at the end of March here. Purrs
ReplyDeleteMom Caren, our mom can relate. Though she actually likes Daylight Saving Time, she too stays up late, and today feels as if she is in a fog. We DO NOT like it. It means our breakfast and dinner time changes twice a year: 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. We don't care what the stupid clock says. Our tummies know when they are hungry. Hope tomorrow is better. ReplyDeleteThe only happy ones in our house this morning, were the cats! Mickey Mouser and Rufus the Red were thrilled that I got up early to make their breakfast...

I hate to say it but I love Daylight Saving Time. I like having daylight after work.
ReplyDeleteDon't like the time change at all--how about 15 minutes every two months? It messes up our mealtimes!
ReplyDeleteGreg (felinecafe.net)
We totally agree with you! Don't think we will feel totally awake until next week!
ReplyDeleteDST sux. Nuff said. I like playing the time did not change game myself...
ReplyDeleteMy perps are tired too and not fans of DST. IT MESSES UO THE grandfather clock and makes dad use HBO words.......I on the other hand am a fan. I got breakfast an hour earlier. MOL
ReplyDeleteHugs
Madi your bfffff
We hate it! It's also not a savings for us here in Florida. when we change to DST it's light LATER and we have to run the lights and A/C longer. I know it doesn't seem to make sense, but that's what happens. PLUS....Mom says it should NOT be daylight at 9 or 9:30 at night.
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
Caren! We are on your side! Though we would prefer if we "spring Forward" and then don't "Fall Back" we like the extra light in the morning.
ReplyDeleteNellie and Mommy
I really wish they'd do away with all this springing forward and falling back. Stop messing with my time! ~Island Cat Mom
ReplyDeleteArghhh!!!! I left a comment this morning and thought it might have disappeared. I don't like the time change when it messes with my feeding times. We get it in 2 weeks. It will mess up my mum's pill taking times too because the important pill has to be taken within 10 minutes of the same time every day.
ReplyDeleteYou know what's funny? The falling back seems to affect me more than springing forward! Perhaps it's because I get up so early for work (4:30am). Hey, I'm a morning person!
ReplyDeleteI like the earlier light in the morning before they change the clocks ahead...then its dark when its time to get up and I feel like it should still be night time. What a pain this business of changing clocks twice a year...around here there are too many old fashioned clocks that need to be carefully changed...sigh...and then all the watches...do not get me started, MOL!!! YAWN...
