I have been a coffee lover since I had my first sip of coffee when I was a child. Well, I THOUGHT it was coffee! In reality, it was a mug of warm milk that my Grandmother "flavored" with a tiny bit of coffee. To me, it WAS coffee and I felt oh so grown up! I was HOOKED!

I love EVERYTHING about coffee, the taste, the smell of it brewing, EVERYTHING!
I have laughed and cried over a cup of coffee, read fabulous books, had intense conversations and no conversation at all with a cup of coffee in my hand. I have started and ended meals with coffee. Come to think of it, I have started and ended relationships with it too!
I drink coffee all day, and well into the night. I can have a cup of coffee before going to bed and sleep like a baby. (There is a long-standing argument as to which has more caffeine, coffee or tea? Most believe it is coffee....WRONG...there is MORE caffeine in tea which is why my Urologist forbids me drinking tea because of my kidney stones. But...that could fluctuate depending on how strong you make your coffee.)

I am not a coffee snob. I will pretty much drink all types, but I do have a couple of rules. NO INSTANT COFFEE!! NO DECAF!!! None!

My love of coffee is so strong, (pun intended), that I have an entire Pinterest board devoted to it. Some of my favorite cat-related coffee pins are shown above and below.
You enjoy while I go make a fresh pot of coffee!

So, tell me, are YOU a coffee freak? What's your favorite way to drink it? Mine is just with powdered creamer, some sweetener or sugar, nothing fancy......and....get ready because International Coffee Day is October 1st!!!
Drink up!
Your mom will kill herself @ my house...MOL
ReplyDeleteMy mom does INSTANT COFFEE !
She love coffee and she used to have the coffee machine at home. But she has never made it right. It's alway not hot or something else. 3 type of coffee machines put in the cabinet. The end she only have instant coffee at home, and drink real coffee at the shop. ( 5 min. walk if she wants to ) . The funny bit for her... Daddy always said No instant coffee for him but he is lazy to make it. At the end he drinks everyday..Ha..Ha
Noooooo Puddy!!!!!! Say it isn't so!!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOO! I used to have instant in college (no other choice at that time), maybe that is why I hate it so much? Our Dad makes most of the coffee here, I do sometimes, but mostly it's Dad. Too funny about your Dad! xoxo
DeleteYup, petcretary loves her coffee too. Our unfurbros are more the gourmands when it comes to coffee, saying ours is like 'bean tea' or swill to name a couple...Pawppy has a single cup brewer in his office, but here at home they just use plain ordinary coffee. Black mostly, though Petcretary does put some lo-Han in it, stevia is horrible in coffee...they don't use sugar or other sweeteners. Off limits in their new dietary style. When she went to Europe, expresso is quite popular, and she had to put cream into that, LOL! Petcretary used to drink upwards of five or six cups a day, but now two at the most, since it works nasties on her blood pressure, the caffeine that is...but um...she does *NEED* her coffee!
ReplyDeletePetcretary has to work on Oct 1 so she will be coffee deprived...sigh...except for her one before she leaves. Petcretary shall tell our unfurbros about this day and Oct 1, too.
We use "plain, ordinary coffee too", Husband likes black, I don't. Shhh...don't tell my doctor about my blood pressure!! xoxo
DeleteNOT a coffee drinker. But LOVE the cat-related coffee funnies!
ReplyDeletethanks!!
DeleteI gather, um, that you are a coffee fan? MOL! My human's more about the caffeine, although she goes in and out of coffee phases.
ReplyDeleteNo, I hate it ;)
DeleteMy Mom can only drink one cup of coffee in the morning - caffeine does wake her up but also makes her tachycardia wackier than usual so she's only allowed ONE (with lots of cream!)....but she loves the smell of coffee and like you, her Mom used to give her "coffee" - ALL dream with a dab of coffee in it and she felt like she was all grown up...........!! HAHAHA As for me - give me the milk but hold the coffee.......
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sammy
Sammy, thank you for having Mom and I learn something new. We didn't know what "tachycardia " was so we looked it up. Poor Mom!!!! Love that her Mom did what my mom's Grandma did! Sending (((hugs))) to you both! Love, Cody
DeleteHey Sammy, TW has that too!
DeleteClaire is a tea freak as you are a coffee freak : black teas or green teas, classic blends rather than fancy tastes, and some rules too : no tea bags, no milk, no sugar, no instant tea ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!!! You know what I miss? I DO miss iced tea terribly. Not permitted to drink ANY tea at all because of my kidney stones. I used to just adore iced tea, but never, ever, ever liked hot tea.
DeleteHooray for Coffee day! Our Mom likes coffee but her body doesn't agree with her--the wuss!
ReplyDeleteLove the images.
poor Mom!!! Glad you enjoyed the images!
DeleteBelieve it or not, I am not a fan of coffee. I do love the smell of it brewing, but the taste always puts me off. I've even tried different kinds, flavors, some with extra chocolate added, some with caramel, but no matter what, that aftertaste makes me cringe and I just can't do it. But, I will always enjoy sniffing it! Happy National Coffee Day to you!
ReplyDeleteWell, I THOUGHT I was a coffee freak, but then I read your post and realized I'm just an ordinary person who enjoys exactly two cups of coffee in the morning. Sometimes I'll get really crazy and have a cup on a chilly, rainy afternoon, but clearly I am way behind you! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are normal, I think most of the world is behind me. Eeek.........
DeleteMy mom loves the smell of coffee, but she doesn't like coffee at all. Her idea of a good morning drink is a big glass of ice water. I know...she is a bit odd.
ReplyDeleteCaren, do you drink your coffee as hot as lava? That's what The Hubby does!
ReplyDeleteNope! Not quite THAT hot!
DeleteI love my coffee in the morning and after a good meal. I don't want flavored coffee, just French roast with sweet and low and coffee-mate. Again the original coffee-mate not the flavored ones. I rarely go to Starbucks. Those fancy coffees are expensive and loaded with calories.
ReplyDeleteHave a purrfect day Cody. My best to your wonderful mom. ♥♥♥
you are my kinda gal!! " sweet and low and coffee-mate" me too!! Non-flavored!! I also don't love Starbucks! Sending lots of love!! xoxoxo
DeleteAbsolutely!! But I will only drink it black, and I do mix regular with decaf. Doctor said to cut down on caffeine because of migraines, and that way I can drink just as much and I'm still cutting back on the caffeine. We do what we have to. But absolutely no instant either!!
ReplyDeleteMommy LOVES coffee! This is her day for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is! I remember having coffee with your Mommy!!! :)
DeleteSounds like somebody really loves coffee.
ReplyDeleteI do to. I love the smell, the taste of coffee.
I like weak coffee in the morning. I love expresso after lunch.
I remember, when I was living in Paris, a "coffee roaster had his shop very close to where I use to live. The smell was so nice, like a drug, really addictive.
In 1983 I was somewhere in Long Island as an "Au pair". It was (almost) a nightmare for me. Impossible to find real expresso !
Bonne soirée
Nat à Chat
Just a little!! lol. I love the smell and taste too! Expresso is super strong for me but I have been known to drink it. Ohhh if I lived by a place where it was roasting I would love it, I agree, it is addictive. I was born in Long Island!!! You must have been lost without your expresso!!
DeleteYou mean there are other drinks than coffee (and maybe wine)? :) I'm a die-hard coffee drinker myself. I agree no instant and no decaf.
ReplyDeleterumor has it there are!!! lol
DeleteWe love your post! You know my Dad loves his coffee all day long too!
ReplyDeleteI can hear those pennies now!!!!!!!! MOL!!!!! I should have known!!!
DeleteHappy coffee day!! Love all your pictures of coffee stuff!!
ReplyDeleteThank you and back at ya!
DeleteI do love coffee, but I see now not as much as you.
ReplyDeleteEmma and Buster
LOL!
DeleteThe mom can't live without her coffee either...but we much prefer the nip.
ReplyDeleteTW loves her some coffee and you can tell from her FB avatar. Years ago her doctor started her drinking it because she complained of being tired in the morning. A year later he had a fit because her heart rate was twice as fast as it should be. From that time on, she can only drink decaf. The rapid heartbeat never went away. We've never seen anything except here that says tea has more caffeine. BTW, she also drinks decaf tea.
ReplyDeleteso sorry that TW has to go through that!!! Yep...Google it, tea has more caffeine than coffee (unless it is green tea I believe or something like that). Years ago, when I was first diagnosed with medullary sponge kidneys the Urologists all thought coffee had more caffeine. I actually gave up coffee for FOUR YEARS. Have no clue how I did it, but I did. Never stopped missing it. Then, when I moved to Michigan, I found my current, younger Urologist who said that the school of thought had changed. As soon as I was given the green light on coffee I went right back! On ALL kidney stone lists for my condition, tea is written as a HUGE no-no, and coffee is not. That being said, it is great that TW drinks decaf tea.
DeleteActually it's the oxalates in black tea rather than the caffeine and iced tea is worse than tea tea that's bad for kidney stones. http://www.phillyvoice.com/infrequently-asked-questions-can-drinking-too-much-tea-cause-kidney-stones/
DeleteThanks CK! You are preaching to the choir as they say!!! I knew that, but neglected to mention that my stones are caused by oxalate....not all kidney stones are. Thank you!
DeleteDid YOU get your free coffee today? Our mom totally FORGOT (and paid for her mocha) MOL!
ReplyDeleteNope! I remembered but it was POURING here all day...I stayed in and worked........drank my own "free" coffee from our pot :)
DeleteSuch a happy day!!!
ReplyDeleteIf we meet I will buy you a cup
ReplyDeletesounds like a plan!!
DeleteI looooove coffee - just plain - and really really hot. Unfortunately, there was a study recently that said really hot coffee turns into a carcinogen so now I am trying to drink it just above room temperature. It's taking a while to get used to it. lol
ReplyDeleteI am jealous that you can drink it all day. I have to stop by 3pm or the caffeine keeps me up.
Enjoy!
xo,cynthia
I Heard that same thing....I don't drink mine overly hot...I think MANY are like you and have to cut it off at a certain time. I think I have just built up an immunity to it lol xoxo
DeleteI am just the opposite! I can't drink coffee, and even though the smell from a distance is OK, up close it is just awful to me! I can't even have coffee flavored foods.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE coffee, I wish I would have seen this sooner. I did get my 66 cent cup at Dunkin Donuts.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea it was National Coffee Day! But I did enjoy a cup this morning, so I feel like I celebrated it. :-)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know it was either but I sure know when I hear the sound the coffee maker makes as it is brewing I smile. Smelling it is a joy and the first (and rest) of the tastes are sublime. I like it medium in strength..no so-called "Colombian" strong man brew. No weak willy either. medium. Sweeter..just one and some half and half is preferable to me. YUM!
ReplyDeletelove your use of the word "sublime" ahhhh yes!
DeleteWe are complete coffee fans! Lately, we have begun drinking tea because, well, we have twenty different kinds that have been sitting here, patiently waiting for someone to drink them for nearly a decade. But once those are gone, it's nothing but coffee again for us. We can hardly wait!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post and pictures! I loved reading the comments too. I love coffee too, but just recently have quit unless I'm super tired in the morning. Just testing some theories in regard to my health. I wonder if I'll be able to last. I definitely cant drink it after 3.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!!! You will be able to last! I once gave it up for four years...if I can do it, ANYONE CAN!!
Deletei drink my coffee black with 1 sugar and i totally agree with NO instant & NO decaf. i only buy freshly roasted, whole beans and grind them myself right before brewing (in my chemex). i will NOT brew in an automatic coffee machine. egads, thats sounds snobby, doesn't it. lol
ReplyDeletei also have a couple of pinterest boards dedicated to coffee!
wags, judy (bailey unleashed)
Our mommy doesn't like coffee and can't even handle the smell of it. She does love tea though. We think she has more pantry space for her teas than we do for our foods!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhh coffee, now there's an aroma to wake up the senses... mmmmmmm.... the P.A. loves coffee yet sadly a few years ago she developed an allergic reaction to caffeine, can mew believe that? Aftur being a coffee drinker all her life, she can now only have and I hate to have to say so I'll whisper *decaf* took her years to get used to it but she says its just not the same and she doesn't drink tea either! MOL
ReplyDeletePurrs
Basil & Co xox
Oh no!!! The poor P.A.! That is awful!! My heart breaks for her!!!! xoxoxo
DeleteMom's a coffee nut! She likes it strong and dark!
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
Well, I didn't quite make it in time for INTERnational coffee day (thanks for letting me know, BTW), but let's call it "National Coffee Week!!!" Thanks for stopping by my blog. Enjoy your coffee! Cute coffee & cat pins!
ReplyDeleteyou are most welcome and I LOVE your idea of calling it "National Coffee Week" FABULOUS!! You are most welcome and you enjoy your coffee too! Thanks so much for the kind words!
