Why do I have "Carolina In My Mind?"
Now, don't get me wrong. I am STILL a Detroit Lions fan, but since the Lions are home playing with their wand toys and eating kibble, my kitty heart (and the heart of my Mom), beats for the pawesome Carolina Panthers!!
For those people who know my Mom well, they know that before Mom lived in Michigan she lived in Cleveland, Ohio for 35 years.
During that time, Mom was a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Browns. For those that have some knowledge of sports history, you know that not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES, the Denver Broncos denied the Cleveland Browns a chance to be in the Super Bowl. (For some, like my Mom, "The Drive" and "The Fumble" STILL hurt!!) They were some of the most (if not THE MOST) painful losses in Cleveland sports history.
Those are some HUGE reasons why Mom says that no way will she ever be pushing for the Denver Broncos to win ANYTHING. BUT...Mom feels torn because she has friends and family that live in Denver, (but the Denver family wasn't born and raised there so that makes her feel better).
This year we also have a a niece and nephew who are ACTUALLY AT THE SUPER BOWL !! (but they are from Detroit). Mom says, and I agree, that she has to go with her heart (and I have to go with my fellow felines, because they are PANTHERS!!).
There is yet another, HUGE reason why Mom and I are "pro Carolina", Mom has a dear, dear friend who she has been friends with for approximately 15 years who WAS born and raised in N.Carolina and still lives there, (she even sent Mom a Carolina Panthers T-shirt to wear during the game!) Mom's friend is so excited about the Panthers being in the Super Bowl, and Mom and I are ecstatic and thrilled for them as well!! The Carolina Panthers had one heck of a record this season and they COMPLETELY DESERVE to win THE ENTIRE BOWL OF KIBBLE!!!
So....may the best team, (THE CAROLINA PANTHERS),
win Super Bowl 50 and good luck to all!!!
Even though we don't really care about the game, we are going to root for the Carolina Panthers. If it's a choice between cats and horses - well, 'nuff said :-)
ReplyDeleteyou are right! 'nuff said!!
DeleteGlad you are for the panthers. Even our older than dirt Mom is going to watch the football game. How could she not with all the hype here about the Panthers and it would be very exciting for them to win.
ReplyDeleteWooooo hooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! It sure would be exciting!!
DeleteYAY Panthers! Had to go with the cats!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sammy
Got that right, there are FINALLY cats in the Super Bowl!!! ((((hugs)))) back!
DeleteWe're not really that into football, but Samantha insists that we root for the Panthers as well, so we will!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing on our minds are the game day snacks! I can see kitties wanting the Panthers to win, though.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, we have snacks on OUR minds too! Later they will be in our MOUTHS!!!!
DeleteCats win now matter what the outcome of today's game!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't care who wins but I am in a pool and I drew "6" for Carolina and "3" for Denver (paid quarterly) so wish me luck. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE those grid pools!! I was in one YEARS AGO, a number of times, in Cleveland and TWICE I won $700!!! Once I played under Angel Bobo's name (he was alive at the time) and when I won they said "sorry, but a cat doesn't get $700 lol".......yes...they DID pay me! GOOD LUCK!!
DeleteWooohooo go Panthers!!! I feel so honored to be mentioned today!!! Yes, North Carolina...no place like home (of the Carolina Panthers). Good to see a lot of Panther fans on here!!! Beautiful big black Cat!!! Thanks so much again for thinking of me!!! Love you!!
ReplyDeleteYesssssssssssssssssss GO PANTHERS!!!! Love you Terry and I sooooooooo hope Carolina wins!!!!!!! Love you!!!!!!!!!!! xoxo
DeleteYep, those Panthers are just up the highway from us so they are our home team down here across the SC border. Besides, we gotta cheer for a Panther cat!
ReplyDeleteWe don't know anything about the Super Bowl but hope your team win Cody and Caren too.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
The super bowl is a real mystery for french people !
ReplyDeleteI really know ... nothing about american football.I love rugby.
Bonne soirée

Cody, you are the cutest Panther fan ever- I hope they win.
ReplyDeleteWe are football dummies! But the Panthers winning sounds right to us! Heehee. Also, we love the idea of lots of snackies to nibble on throughout the day. We will do that on a Sunday, football game or not! :)
ReplyDeletethe critters in the cottage xo
Enjoy! I know nada about football but will root for the Panthers because they are feline!
ReplyDeleteWe know all your family is a huge fan of football, it's going to be "animated" in your house ! We'll rather watch the Kitten Bowl. Purrs
ReplyDeleteLove that you chose the word "animated" LOVE IT! Well, since neither of my teams are playing it will be far less "animated" than it would be if my teams WERE in the Super Bowl :)
DeleteWe don't care about the game either, but we'll be cheering for the Panthers because of you.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day honey. Big hugs to you and tons of scritches for Cody and Dakota. ♥♥♥
Since the Panthers stopped the Seahawks from continuing their quest for the superbowl, I most go with Denver as a revenge thing. I did live there for a little while. We like snacks the most today. I am also testing out posting comments with Gravitar to see if it works. I no longer have any "pay" tv so we cannot watch the Kitten Bowl anymore. Boo hoo!
ReplyDeleteGreg
Well, I hafta root for the Panthers...after all, I'm a house panther. Wally wants the team that wears orange to win. ~Ernie
ReplyDeleteOur humans are going to watch but don't have any teams. They're there for the commercials and half time show. Hope your team wins.
ReplyDeleteEmma and Buster
Everyone seems to be predicting the Panthers will win. They appear to be the better team, but we'll see how the game goes and what mistakes are made by each team.
ReplyDeleteWell, Cody, as a lifelong Cleveland fan I can only add : glad the Patriots and their ex-Browns coach aren't there. But for heartbreak, Game 7 in the '97 World Series is hard to beat, cause it was for THE RING.
ReplyDeleteYes I know. Ball went through Nagy's legs, I was watching. Hated him anyway
DeleteWe'll root for the Panthers simply because they're the "cat team". Other than that...TWO WEEKS UNTIL THE DAYTONA 500!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletePanthers are cats so they have to be the superior team! Enjoy the game!
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
I made it here finally! The Panthers are playing like the Giants unfortunatey. That first challenge was definitely a catch. The refs are cheating for Peyton cos he's retiring.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree!!
DeleteI love panthers, but I have to root for the ponies. We have family that lives there and my hubby wants to move there some day. So Gooo!!! Broncos!!!! Sorry Caren.
ReplyDeleteSorry the final score did not turn out the way you had hoped, Caren and Cody. We DID enjoy the Kitten Bowl, though. :)
ReplyDeleteWe were rooting for Carolina, too, but alas, it didn't happen. We decided we wanted to support the underdogs and, of course, support the CATS in the game. :-) The Kitten Bowl was more fun to watch than the humans game, we thought. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe don't watch football here, but ifin we was gunnaroot fur sumone it wuld be da panfurs.
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'
Dezi and Lexi
I thought it would be fun to root for the black kitties, but dad thought it best to root for the old guy. We also watched the puppy and kitty bows games on the other channels.
ReplyDeleteCool event, could not see it! ;)

NEW POST: TRAVEL STYLE WITH FUR COAT
We were rooting for the Panthers and are sad they lost. Happy Mardi Gras tho!
ReplyDeleteWe were rooting for the Panthers too because we can't stand the Donkeys! Our mommy and daddy even lived in Colorado for 12 years and still can't stand the Donkeys! They are from Kansas so are die hard Chiefs fans!
ReplyDeleteOh, dear...the Panthers did not win...hisses...
ReplyDeleteMeowmy was working and pawppy did not watch TV at all that night...sigh...even thought we might have enjoyed the kitten bowl...and some puppy bowl too you know?!
Oh well, soon the Tigers will have a chance to roar again:)
