It all started the day before she went in for her procedure (had the insult occurred the day after, I could have blamed it on the anesthesia, but alas, no such luck for my Mom.) The insult was made when she was TOTALLY in her "right mind", (whatever that is, but that's another story all together!)
Mom had looked at me while she was working on her computer. I was staring at her because it was time for my midday repast and I was wondering just WHAT was taking her so long to tend to my needs, when suddenly, she BURST OUT LAUGHING. SHE KEPT LOOKING AT ME AND LAUGHED AND LAUGHED AND LAUGHED.
I waited to see just how long it would take her to let me in on the joke.
She then proceeded to tell me that the way I was sitting made my body shape look EXACTLY like....ready for this?
A PEAR!!!!
Observe my expression and you will see just how upset I was by that disgusting comment.
Kitties, can you tell that I was NOT amused?
Has this woman taken a look at HERSELF in a mirror lately? Obviously NOT!! I bet when they wheeled her in for her procedure, they had WIDE LOAD emblazoned on the hospital gurney!!!!!
Then, to add insult to injury, Mom said because I am chewing everything I can get my paws on (from envelopes, to the leaves on my cat tree, to plastic, you name it, I'm all over it), my mouth is so swollen that Mom said she had to EDIT MY PHOTO to make me look DECENT!!!! THE NERVE!!!
Mom went into the Super Photo App that many others are using, then she went to Ribbet for some more tinkering.
Kitties, I ask you, am I not PERFECT just the way I am? Must I endure these insults and disrespect? Have YOU ever been insulted in such a callous way?
I hope on Mom's next procedure that she passes stones the size of LAVA ROCKS spewing from ALL of the Hawaiian volcanoes!!!
Now...if you will excuse me, I have a treat dispenser just waiting for some action...from...ME!!!
Love, Cody
I get insulted all da time like dat. It are ruff!
ReplyDeleteOh, Cody... what you have to put up with. ; ) How do you do it???
ReplyDeletePlease give your mom our love. We hope her procedure goes well and she gets back to feeling well super soon.
xo
Poor Cody. Mum just laughed because she said I kind of look like a pear too when I sit. Not nice is it? You know what I said back? "What do you expect, Mum? I take after you, don't I?"
ReplyDeleteHope your mom is feeling better.
Purrs xx
Athena
How dreadful of your Mum to say you look like a pear - maybe it's because she is scared if it's going to hurt when she passes her stones. Hope all goes well for you Caren.
ReplyDeleteHannah, Lucy and Mum x
Um, Cody, ALL kitties are pear shaped when they are sitting. That includes svelte kitties. I know I do, and according to the cat show judges, I have good "condition" (I assume this means I'm Not Fat). So maybe you are taking this too personally.
ReplyDeleteOh Cody...we feel your pain. Hang in there pal. We think you are perfect just the way you are.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Bugsy and Knuckles
Poor Cody.....well if it's any consolation, I would give ANYTHING to have a little pear in my shape but I'm just a skinny old guy now. I think your Mom did a great job jazzing you up with that app though - you look GREAT. I guess you have to be a little patient with your Mom because going through "the procedure" is NO FUN!
ReplyDeleteLove, Sammy
Awwww I love ya pal!!!!!! Thank you!!! xoxoxo Love, Cody
DeletePoor Cody. Hope your mom's procedure goes well and with no pain.
ReplyDeleteSue B
Glad you showed your mom that was not acceptable!
ReplyDeleteGees, Cody, our biped is a pear-shape and so is Derry! We think beauty comes in all sizes and shapes, so the "shame" is on your mom, for thinking there's anything funny about your wonderful furry body.
ReplyDeleteAs for your swollen mouth...you poor thing! Healing purrs from us!
Cody, your mouth was swollen? What's that all about? Well, I say a nicely placed hairball cough-up in a shoe will teach your human not to body-shame you EVER again!
ReplyDeleteyes, you know that pink thing that is always on my mouth? It has been there since I was a kitten. The Vet says it is just something I was born with. When I get mad at Mom for not giving me snacks or my dinner fast enough, I start chewing EVERYTHING I can get my mouth on. Mom noticed after I did that it got larger. She used to immediately have the Vet put me on Pred when it swelled, but once she witnessed what caused it, she isn't doing that anymore. She checked with the Vet and he agrees, unless it gets really bad. It just doesn't look great in photos.
DeleteOh, Cody, you're handsome no matter what shape you are! Perhaps you and my parents' big boy Trapper would do well to commiserate, as he doesn't seem all that impressed when we tell him that it looks like he swallowed a watermelon. Well, anyway, I think the moral of this story is that you're as adorable as ever, Cody! Purrs!
ReplyDeleteOh no!! Poor Trapper!!! Mom liked this because now you gave her a new idea of what she can say to me! Gee...thanks!! MOL!! Love, Cody
DeleteI love your mom, but that was very rude. Funny but rude. I can hear her laughing.
ReplyDeleteI linked this post to Feline Friday.
Have a purrfect day. My best to your wonderful mom. ♥♥♥
Thank you Aunt Sandee!!! I am sooooo happy you called my mom "rude" because she IS!! Thank you for linking us too.......as usual...we are behind today big time!!! We send lots of love back, have a blast this weekend! Love, Cody and Mom xoxoxo
DeleteI think pears are awesome!
ReplyDeleteCody, I think you look wonderful! Your mouth looks cute here too but I do hope it heals.
ReplyDeleteThe lady calls me roundy and even likened me to a pumpkin at Halloween so I understand!
Our mom laughs at us all of the time. Signed, Benny, Sadie, and Ringo
ReplyDeleteCody, dont speak of rocks as they tend to fly around where I live ...
ReplyDeleteWhat your mum said is really not nice. I think that you just look cute. It's winter. Everybody gets some weight dring the winter. And we also get some winter fur.
Ronrons
Hisia
Ha!!! That's true about the rocks where you live!! Ha!!!!!!!!!
DeleteWell, Mom (sort of) agrees with you about Winter, but tell the Vet that!! Love, Cody
If you were too thin people would think she wasn't feeding you enough and accuse her of cat abuse. She's protecting herself. FYI. Don't complain too much or she'll stop giving you treats so you would get thinner.
ReplyDeleteHey, when you look terrific someone always has to pick on you Cody!
ReplyDeleteOh Cody, it's clear you have been SORELY abused. WORD.
ReplyDeleteWell Cody you an Mom are a right pair ...excuse the pun LOL
ReplyDeleteHope mom's procedure went OK :-)
Have a pearlesstastic weekend :-)
Now THAT was hilarious!!!! Thanks so much, it was good but today I feel like crap....some discomfort......."this too, shall PASS!!" :)
DeleteHave a great weekend!
Oh Cody we think yous just purrfect. Yu don't need to change a thing. And da nerve of yous mommy to say otherwise. Hmmpht Dusn't she know dat as cats we's always purrfect. Eat a bunch of treats and ignore her. MOL
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'
Dezi and Lexi
First off, PEARS ARE DELICIOUS! :) So it was a compliment, see? Secondly, hope your Mom is feeling much better after her procedure, and hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

heerz two a happee heartz day oh love ~~~~~ kinda week oh end ♥♥♥
How rude of your mum, Cody! My mum is just as bad. One of the many names she called Eric was Pudding. She said he was big and round like a Christmas pudding. I hope your mum is doing well after her procedure.
ReplyDelete"Pudding!!" Mom said she LOVES it!!!!!! Mom isn't feeling great but hopefully she will feel much better soon! Thank you! Love, Cody
DeleteBut Cody, you do look a little like a pear - a cute pear, but a pear!! It's okay to be a little fruity!!
ReplyDeleteThat wasn't very nice of your human, Cody. We had to MOL at the "wide load" gurney. Hope she is feeling better after her procedure and that she's back to giving you plenty of treats.
ReplyDeleteWe need to put out paw down. Pear shaped! Mom called me fat!!
ReplyDeleteEdward (& Lily)
You are right! We DO have to put our paws down! The nerve of them! Love, Cody
DeletePoor Cody. I think you look adorable.
ReplyDeleteWe can't believe you had to suffer that indignity, Cody! You look just fine to us.
ReplyDeleteA pear, huh? What is this fascination humans have with fruit and comparisons? Our mom says she's an apple on toothpick legs, she says our sister Zuzu is melon-shaped, and once, she called our only brother Quint a banana! But it's not all bad. We ginger girls are often called peaches and we hear that isn't too bad. Our suggestion: Find a fruit you like and insist your mom call you that!
ReplyDeleteCody we have one word for you : Perfect!
ReplyDeleteYou are purrfect, Cody! Hope your mom is doing ok.
ReplyDeleteA pear ? A pear ?!? We can't believe you had to suffer that indignity ! A lion, a tiger, a mighty hunter, OK, but a pear... That's rude. We hope her procedure went well, and we wonder which fruit the hospital staff chose for HER ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteapparently she likes to laugh at you! It is pretty funny!
ReplyDeleteCody, darling, our humans are so insensitive. If we could verbalize how they look to us, we think they'd be more careful about what they say. This art rendering of you is spectacular. We think your Mom could make prints of it and sell them. Hope she is feeling okay after her "procedure." XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteOh, Cody, we think you look purrfectly handsome, dude! Even though it kind of hurt your feelings when Mom laughed at you, we bet it was a welcome diversion from the discomfort she's feeling from those stones. Hugs and love to you both.
ReplyDeleteWhat's your mom talkin' bout. You look more than perfect to me...perfect+. Does she need glasses, Cody? Of course we all have a WEE treat pouch but I'll bet your mom does too. I'd rather be compared to a pear rather than a watermelon! You look super and don't ever forget it. Moms are terribly weird.
ReplyDeleteYour friend,
Shoko
We don't get it. Nope. Not at all. We don't have a clue why our mommy giggled either. Nope. Not at all.
ReplyDeleteOh No Cody, that Mom should not have laughed at you even though our Mom snickered a little bit. But you do not look like a pear. You look just like a kitty Kat.
ReplyDeleteThis is work of art! Btw, I've been offline a lot but thinking of your mom and hoping she's feeling better soon! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou are perfect just the way you are!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend...
Noodle and crew
Absolutely love this art pic of you, Cody! We have been purring for you, Caren. Sending many healing thoughts your way, hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteA Pear!! Why, pawppy would love you thatway, he really loves them...the red ones are the best...but wait, you fur sure are not red, MOL!!
ReplyDeleteMeowmy calls Pipo a big fatso...cause well, um...he is, and a hefty one at that...He should share some of his baggage with Minko, MOL!!
Pipo likes to chomp down on a lot of not too tasty things too, pkastic being the main target, but he doesn't gt all swooen and irritated. We hope you heal up...now wait a minute, if you chews stuff cause you are hungry, then your Mom should feed you...and keep the pear talk for the real ones, MOL!
And we sure hope you are feeling a lot better by now Caren!
Sheesh, our nutzo meowmy needs to go to bed or pay more heed to her spelling...serves her right fur calling us names like Fatso and Stinky Minky...
DeleteOh my, what terrible behaviour on your mom's part. She was obviously overcome with nerves before her procedure and didn't know she was offending you. Another possible reason was she was actually talking about herself and and projecting onto you. Pay no mind, she is not herself....she's somebody else.
