Meet up to 70
adoptable animals on Saturday, August 16th
The second of two tented Adopt-a-Thons this summer takes
place on Saturday, August 16th from 10a.m.-4p.m. in the Westborn
Mall parking lot, 23239 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, at the corner of Michigan
Avenue and Outer Drive. The Dearborn Animal Shelter plans to have 70 animals available
for adoption in all shapes and sizes, kittens, cats, puppies and dogs, small
and large.
Counselors will be on hand to help potential adopters find their
new best friend, including a meet and greet area to get to know dogs a little
better in a separate section. Attendees
will enjoy reduced adoption fees, can shop Shelter merchandise and select from
fresh Fido Bakery treats for their canine best friends.
Summer is a busy time for animal shelters, and there are
many pets for families to consider. Elaine
Greene, Executive Director, Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter, commented
“Adopt-A-Thons help improve the potential for our animals to get adopted. This is
the third year that Westborn Mall has hosted one for us and it is great place
to feature many adoptable pets in a high profile location.”
This year, Lori Bennett, 96.3 WDVD midday on-air talent will
be on hand from 11a.m.-1p.m. to greet attendees and welcome fans with a little
music and fun.

I hope many get adopted. Shared to help get the word out. Our local shelter said they had an over abundence of kittens late in the season this year.

DeleteI wish the best of luck to all those pets!
ReplyDeleteღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Of course I want everybody adopted, but I have my concerns about same-day adoptions. I like the 24 hour wait, to make really sure the people want the pet. Plus it gives the family time to set up a safe-room, purchase litter boxes and carriers, etc. My two cents...
ReplyDeleteI adopted Cody "same day" from an adoption drive that Petco had in 2007. I adopted him and immediately brought him home. He's none the worse for wear! lol. Also, about 2 yrs ago when I volunteered at an adoption event at Kitty City, I paid the adoption fee for a family who also brought him home the same day. They had no problems either. I guess it boils down to an individual decision.
DeleteWe hope the Adopt-a-Thon is successful and wish all the pets good luck ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely event, I hope many new friends are made and new homes found!
ReplyDeleteI love to see shelters hold events like this one. I hope it is a smashing success and every animal finds it's own special home.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like quite an event. We have our paws crossed that it is a huge success! Here's to lots and lots of happily ever afters!
ReplyDeleteThat does sound like it will be a great event...purrs and prayers for it to be a great success and for many safe, loving forever homes to be found. (Hope all is okay where you are Caren and that you have been safe from any flooding.)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!!!!! Well, about 15 minutes away from us had MAJOR flooding....just awful. People literally lost their homes and cars. It was UNREAL! There has been nothing like that here for many, many years. We are in an apt/condo building, so thankfully we don't have to worry about a house with a flooded basement (we are also on 2nd floor, which in our building is the top floor). Thanks so much for asking, it was quite bad here and some areas near us are still flooded. xoxo
DeleteYou do such a great job of featuring your local events.
ReplyDeleteWe hope it's a huge success!
Awww thank you! I try!
Deleteoh we do hope they get their loving homes sooner rather than later xxx
ReplyDeleteI hope plenty of these kitties will find a family! Have a nice day.
