THIS POST FIRST APPEARED ON JULY 30, 2014. ENJOY!!
I was so happy when I heard that
today is NATIONAL CHEESECAKE DAY!!
It gives me a chance to show you THIS:
Before I tell you where this cheesecake came from, allow me to say that I was:
IN NO WAY contacted to post about this, nor was I paid. I absolutely ADORE the cheesecake from:
that I wanted to give them a shout out today!
I have always LOVED cheesecake (as evidenced by my insanely girlish figure which I know you are all sooo jealous of!). I prefer virgin cheesecake. Say what? VIRGIN CHEESECAKE. Plain. Tight. No fruit, not even a single cherry, no nothing!
Last fall while visiting New York for a blogging event, I was discussing my love of cheesecake with one of my BFF's, Jaime, from the fabulous blog, Thoughts Fur Paws. During that discussion it was decided that while in the city known for having the BEST cheesecake in the land, we had to set out to find it!
Being the "take charge" kind of a gal that she is, Jaime asked the hotel concierge, and a few other people where we could find THE BEST CHEESECAKE, and it was unanimously decided that Junior's Cheesecake was the place to be!!

From Juniors website:
Hail a taxicab anywhere in New York City and tell the driver,
"Take me to the best cheesecake in New York." Odds are you will end
up at the corner of Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues in Brooklyn, at Juniors.
The hotel we were staying in was at Grand Central Station and as luck would have it, there was also a Junior's Cheesecake located there!! Jaime and I high-tailed it over and THAT is where the photo of the delectable cheesecake above was taken!
The cheesecake at Junior's is made the way cheesecake SHOULD be made! Melt-in-your mouth, dense enough in texture to KNOW you are eating REAL NEW YORK CHEESECAKE (none of the light and airy stuff for me thank-you-very-much). It is PURE CHEESECAKE HEAVEN!
Since I am not a one-night-stand kind of a cheesecake gal, or a hit-and-run, I have ordered from Junior's a few times since I returned to Michigan.
I ordered their Pumpkin Cheesecake (Seasonal) to bring for Thanksgiving and a Sampler Cheesecake as a present for my husband's birthday last February.
The sampler I bought for my husband Photo from http://www.juniorscheesecake.com |
Ordering from their website was fast and easy...there are different shipping options so if you need your cheesecake sent in a timely manner, it WILL BE! It arrives in perfect condition as well!
So, if you have a craving for cheesecake, if you are in New York, head on over to Junior's and have a piece (or two or three) for me, PLEASE!! If you want to give them a try, hop online and order some!
What a cute foto Cody. And enjoy da cheesecake.
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'
Dezi

ReplyDeleteAwww thank you!!!!! Feel free to kiss it! Love, Cody
DeleteYum yum. We would love us a good nibble on the Cody Cheesecake!
ReplyDeleteCmon!! There is plenty to go around!
DeleteSounds like you enjoyed it! Actually Cody, I would prefer your cheesecake. Your mom might think it's weird but I don't really like cheesecake. I don't hate it, but I just don't really like it so I never eat it. Maybe if I had some of this cheesecake, my mind would change :)
ReplyDeleteOhhh Ann if only I could be like you!!! xoxo
DeleteWe think the Cody cheesecake is even better than the other ones you pictured!
ReplyDeletethat's open for debate!!! MOL!
DeleteNext time you're in our Philly neighborhood, stop by for a slice of my Mother's delicious cheesecake. But, be quick, it never sticks around very long!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm never in Philly, but maybe I might just be now :)
DeleteEnjoy your cheesecake. Lady loves sweets and the like but has never been a big fan of the cheese cake.
ReplyDeletesorry, but that's just a little depressing......... :)
DeleteWell you have our Mom sitting here drooling over the cheesecake. You just had to put that on here this morning and of all things, we can order it to be delivered. Now that is so scary. That looks so so good. Cody your tummy looks good too but the cheesecake has the Mom crazy. Take care.
ReplyDeleteOMC Marg you are a woman after my Mom's own heart!!!!!! MOL MOL MOL!!!!!!! Mom wishes she could have some with you right now! Love, Cody
DeleteThat Cody belly does look DELISH!
ReplyDeleteIt is! I know from personal experience!
DeleteNational Cheesecake Day, now that's my kind of day, Cody. Cheesecake would be good for breakfast, right?
ReplyDeleteof course! It's dairy!!!
DeleteDelicious and hilarious at the same time. What more could you want.
ReplyDeleteYum, yum and drool, drool. Now we will spend the afternoon thinking of cheesecake. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Hehehe!!! Go and get some and you have a wonderful wednesday too!
DeleteThe cheesecake looks yummy, Cody, but your tummy is to DIE for!!!
ReplyDeleteAwww thank you! Go ahead and take a bite! I will love it! Love, Cody
DeleteI love cheesecake and so does my mom - last weekend was her birthday and I made her a homemade one from scratch - the kind that takes four big blocks of cream cheese and takes over an hour to cook in a spring form pan that is slow baked in a bath of water surrounding the pan!! Very time consuming, but so, so, so creamy and delicious!! I topped it with a fresh raspberry topping and I am still dreaming about it!!
ReplyDeleteHi Deb! Ok you just totally disproved my theory for Sue from Katsrus lol!!! OMG YOUR CHEESECAKE SOUNDS AMAZING!!! FOUR BLOCKS OF CREAM CHEESE??? OMG!!!!! You are sooo patient! I never make them because the kind I like, (like the one you made) take a long time and you have to be a talented baker to make them. I can't bake worth a darn but I am a great cook! How do you stay so slim????? YUM!!!
DeleteIf you are ever in our neck of the woods, I promise I'll make one special just for you!! It's worth the price of airfare!! LOL!! And I stay slim because I am a neurotic lunatic!!
DeleteOMG Deb! One day I will take you up on it!!!! I just re-joined Weight Watcher's yesterday, so I am afraid that won't be for quite some time! OMG you cracked me up!! You are NOT a "neurotic lunatic!!!" LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteCody you are too cute. Great photo. Enjoy that cheesecake. Something I have never cared for.
ReplyDeleteSue B
Thank you!!!! OMG you don't enjoy cheesecake? You must be slim :) Love, Cody
DeleteYou got it going on Cody!
ReplyDeleteMom cannot remember if she tasted "true" cheesecake once in her life, but we would prefer your cheesecake, Cody ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteTell your Mom she needs to get some..........FAST!!!!!
DeleteMom grew up in NYC and Juniors has always had the best cheesecake ever. Well, except for the cheesecake at Jack Dempsey's, but that restaurant closed in 1974. I wonder if they got their cheesecakes from Juniors? MOL Anyway, happy that you discovered them.
ReplyDeleteDid you know my Mom was born on Long Island? YEPPER! Her mom and dad were from Brooklyn and she still has family there. Mom moved from LI when she was 2, that is why she didn't know about all of these great places! OMG Juniors is the BEST!!
DeleteWe can't live without it
ReplyDeleteSnorts

Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese cake!!!! Is BY FAR my FAV dessert ever in the whole wide world!!
ReplyDeleteღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
I have had Junior's and they are delicious!
ReplyDeleteOMG aren't they? They are just the BEST!!!
DeleteWe like both of those cheesecakes, but Cody is the cuter of the two! :)
ReplyDeleteJunior's cheesecake is awesome. I pass by their Grand Central restaurant every day on my way to my train home.
Awww thanks!!! OMG isn't it? How do you ever pass by and not get any???? Thank God I don't live by it lol. Have you ever tried their brisket sandwich? I had that and it was to die for!!! I almost posted a photo of that too lol.
DeleteMmmmhhhhh... the cheesecake looks super yummy! And Cody is the cutest little kitty EVER! We love that photo! Have a wonderful day! :-) xx Roxy & Tigerlino <3
ReplyDeleteThank you and that cheesecake is to die for!!! You have a wonderful day too! xoxo
DeleteI am with you, Caren -- I love my cheesecake nice and plain! And boy do I LOVE it! You have made me hungry for cheesecake now. Perhaps I will need to convince my husband to go out for some dessert tonight… ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL!! I love it! Let me know if you have any!!! Take a nice big bite for me!!! xoxo
DeleteYum, cheesecake!
ReplyDeletecody is looking pretty fine, too!
I want to rub that bellly. I love Juniors cheesecake and that reminds me it was half off cheesecake day at The CHeesecake Factory and I missed it :(
ReplyDeletethere is still time! (for belly rubs AND half off cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory), I personally think Junior's is better :)
DeleteLast shot was perfect for those of us dairy-free! LOL
ReplyDeleteThere ya go! Take a BIIIIGGGGG BITE!
DeleteOh yeah! There's a Juniors in Grand Central and every time I'm in the city I'm tempted to get a piece!
ReplyDeleteYep! That's the one I referenced in the blog post that I ate at :)
DeleteCody, you are the best Cheesecake of all. Now M's mouth is watering and she has no way to quickly get a piece of cheesecake.
ReplyDeleteyou can take a bite out of ME!!!! Love, Cody
DeleteOh I'd love to lick that cheesecake! ~Wally
ReplyDeleteOur ShopRite sells Junior’s cheesecake. TW axed Pop for a sampler cheesecake instead of a birthday cake. The absolute best cheesecake she ever ate was years ago. When she worked, a coworker (who happened to be a Red Sox fan) made the best cheesecake. They had a bet and the Yankees actually won the series. He baked one for her.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE cheesecake to the point of obsession! My son can make a delicious pumpkin cheesecake. It is one of those recipes that I refuse to ask for because the last thing I need is to know I have the ability to bake my own! I'll take a slice of your naked cheesecake and snuggle from your furry one!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness we don't live by each other! I am always grateful that I am NOT a baker, that is a blessing! That's one less thing that I need! lol. Cody says you can snuggle with him any day!
DeleteGosh, had I only known I would have left the diet smoothie behind and gone for some cheesecake!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had juniors cheesecake in forever… my dad loved it!
ReplyDeleteYummm cheesecake! I love the raspberry variety but any of them look good!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the Cody cheesecake!!
ReplyDeleteI'm weird that I don't really like cheesecake. It's really just too rich and not sweet enough for me. My hubby thinks I'm crazy!
MOL! I'm with your hubby all the way!
DeleteCake, the P.A. loves cake! Chocolate cake, sponge cake, cheese cake, in fact most cakes and after reading this, she says she would like some cake right about now! MOL
ReplyDeleteThanks fur sharing such yumminess
Purrs
Basil xox
Hurry out and have some!!!!!!! You are welcome!!! If you get a chance, order their cake, it's incredible!!!! xoxo
DeleteHooray for National Cheesecake Day! :) Does Junior's deliver to England? LOL or BOL as Penny would say!
ReplyDeletePenny's pawtend human,
Gary :)
Good question! I linked to them, you could visit their website and find out :)
DeleteToo bad, it is really difficult to find some in France.
ReplyDeleteI remember, many years ago, I was an "au paire" somewhere in Long Island, and one of my neighbour was (perhaps still is) an expert ! Her cheesecakes were like paradise.
My 14 years old niece who lives in San Francisco is here this week. She told me she can make one for me, but in order to do it she needs Philadelphia cream cheese. I cannot find any !
Bonne soirée
Nat à Chat
That sounds so delish that The Staff says she's going to have some the first chance she gets, even though SHE IS NOT ALLOWED to have any at all!!!! xox
ReplyDeleteNooooooooooo tell her NOT to do it! I don't want her getting sick because of me! xoxo
DeleteThat looks incredible! Going to have to go have a look myself! Cody you are just downright adorable sweetie!
ReplyDeleteMarty's Mom
OMC it is soooooooooooooo delicious!! Let me know if you order and Cody sends you kisses!
DeleteMom super love blueberry cheesecake. She adores it!
ReplyDeleteWe lady cats at our house will take Cody over Junior's cheesecake any day. Tell your mom that QVC also offers Juniors. Our mom makes a killer cheesecake but hasn't done it in years. We'll have to see if we can motivate her. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteOhhhh nooo! Mom wishes you didn't tell her about QVC offering Junior's!! But, I guess it is the same as Junior's shipping the cake too, (only less expensive probably)...Mom just rejoined Weight Watcher's, so no cheesecake for her til maybe her birthday in October :) Oh and tell the lady cats, come and get it! xoxo Love, Cody
DeleteOh yeah. OMC/OMG! Looks divine (so does that last "cheesecake")!
ReplyDeleteI had heard about them for years, finally I ordered some to be mailed to me. It is very good!
ReplyDeleteOMG I LOVE IT!!! When can I come over? lol
DeleteFirst of all, thank you so so so much for bringing to my attention National Cheesecake Day! Somehow I never knew of this day, and given that I love cheesecake, you are now my hero. Secondly, Cody, that picture of you made my day!
ReplyDeleteHa!!!! You are MOST WELCOME!!!!!!!!!! I ADORE CHEESECAKE! I first learned about it a few years ago. Do you believe I don't even have any cheesecake here? I sure wish I did! Cody says thanks so much about the photo, that's an "oldie" too!! xoxo
DeleteJan is drooling. She LOVES cheesecake. Especially real cheesecake. In particular Philadelphia cheesecake! Mmmmmmm mmmmmm good! The NY cheesecake looks a lot like it.
ReplyDeleteThis cheesecake is UNREAL....it is superb! Thanks so much for the Gotcha Day wishes!!
DeleteOh, we forgot the reason we came by was we saw it's a belated celebration for Cody (on the CB). So Happy Gotcha Day, Cody.

ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
OMC OMC OMC!!! My Mom wants to come over!!! Thanks for the Gotcha Day wishes!! xoxo
DeleteTW loves cheesecake but I like Cody's version better. Happy Gotcha Day Cody. TW had a co-worker who baked cheesecake to die for. He was a Red Sox fan and TW had a bet with him one year. She won a cheesecake and was in heaven.
ReplyDeleteIn my world, the bet you won with that Red Sox fan was the BEST BET EVER!!!!!!!! OMG I would have been in heaven too!
DeleteCan you believe I went 30 years without liking cheesecake?!?! Then again, maybe that's why I can't turn it down now when given the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteOMC!! I sure wish that I went 30 years not liking it! Believe me, I ate enough of it in 30 years to eat your share and everyone else's in the world!! lol
DeleteOOooo! Now there's a day worth celebrating!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, No!!!! Did you have to say that Junior's does Mail Order??! My all-time favorite cheesecake although, I have to say, back in the day when there was a real Lindy's, theirs was wonderful. I was in the City for BEA (Book Expo America) and the publisher put me up at a hotel across the street from Junior's! In fact, my window overlooked it. In the Theatre District. Bliss. But no time for theatre, however, I ate at Junior's every chance I could that weekend! I used to make cheesecake. Those days are over. I would treat myself when I had a chance on a trip to Mad-hatten. They ship. Is there any way in which I can un-read that part?
ReplyDeleteHa!!!!!!!!!! LOVE IT! I am sorry!! lol!!!!!!! Ohhh I know Lindy's! Both of my parents were from Brooklyn and when my grandparents would visit us after my parents moved, they would bring Lindy's!!!!!! Thankfully I don't make cheesecake (I cook, but I hate to bake, thank God!!!) xoxoxo
DeleteCody! Sweetie! Mes don't cares if its National Cheesecake Day and that this is a repeat...mes would nibbles on you every chance mes gets!
ReplyDeleteSending yous Nellie nibbles (and kisses)
Your Nellie Bellie
Whenever we go to NYC, we go to Junior's and get cheesecake to take back and eat in our hotel room :)
ReplyDeleteGawd, I love that photo of Cody! His kind of cheesecake is my FAVORITE!
ReplyDeleteYUMMY!! But that would be from the unfurbros...the petcretary herself is not too fond of cheesecake...just a wee taste is good fur jher, MOL!
ReplyDeleteIt sure does *look* scrumptious!
How fun that you got to go to the real place where they come from.
We did not know there was a cheesecake day...will have to tell the unfurbros...
A cheesecake for evfurry mouth and fur evfurry cheesecake a mouth!! MOL!
