This past Saturday I had family over for Yom Kippur (the holiest day of the year for Jews. One of the ways it is observed is by fasting for approx 24 hrs.), then when the holiday ends at sundown, you have guests over to "break the fast."
In Cody's world not eating for 24 minutes is fasting.
While I was stressing and busy getting ready, as well as fighting a killer headache from not having eaten, Cody gave me some much needed comic relief. I guess he felt it was time for HIS "fast" to end! His relentless quest for food began here:
And when that didn't work, Cody pulled out all of the stops:
Gotta give him an A+ for persistence!
and for sitting like the
purrfect gentleman!
Cody and I can relate! Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year.
ReplyDeletelol Deb!!! Thank you and the same to all of you!!!
DeleteIt is a good thing my human is not Jewish - she gets very ill-tempered if she hasn't eaten all day! Um, kinda like Binga.
ReplyDeleteBinga, you should have seen my Mom.....OMG.........Love, Cody
DeleteChris does the same thing only he gets on the counter under the cabinet where the kitty treats are and "yells" and me until he gets what he wants. Often this happens before he finishes his breakfast or dinner and I have to tell him "no treats until you finish what's on your plate."
ReplyDeleteOh I love that! Chris is soooooo smart!!! I love that you tell him "no treats until you finish what's on your plate."
DeleteHappy happy Yom Kippur!! Awwww Cody!! You are mum's ROCK!! Take care
ReplyDeletex
:) Love it Old Kitty! xoxo
DeleteWe think you made yourself pretty clear Cody. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
I tried! You have a marvelous Monday too! Love, Cody
DeleteHappy Yom Kippur! Those are some very good manners, Cody. We will sit at the table, but usually it's to steal something when we think we're unobserved.
ReplyDeleteShhhh...don't tell, but I did! There was a tray in the kitchen with FISH on it (Mom should have written this) and at one point during the evening her nephew was in the kitchen and said "Um Caren, there is a CAT on the table by the tray" :)
Delete"In Cody's world not eating for 24 minutes is fasting." - I'm laughing so hard I just spewed coffee all over my keyboard! Happy Yom Kippur!
ReplyDeleteIngrid I was drinking coffee while reading YOUR comment and almost did the same! lol!!!!!! So happy to make you laugh :)
DeleteI have enjoyed breaking the Yom Kippur fast with my Jewish friends several times. Besides learn about their customs and enjoying their family, I have gotten to taste many dishes that were foreign to me. More that a few have become favorites in my family. Food, breaking barriers and making friends.
ReplyDeleteDorothy I just love this! I greatly enjoy sharing holidays of others as well that aren't my holiday. "Food, breaking barriers and making friends" so true!
DeletePoor starving kitty! Love the photos - that look says it all doesn't it? Sitting in the chair at the TV tray waiting for the waitrees to deliver his munchables is totally hilarious...."WHAT'S ON THE MENU MOM???"...............so cute!
ReplyDeletePam (and Sam)
MOL!! Thank you and you said it perfectly!
DeleteOh Cody, you are such a good boy. You tell that Mom that you need your food. Cats just cannot go without food. Hope she speeds it up. Take care and have a great day.

ReplyDeleteMOL Oh Cody, love your subtle hints!
ReplyDeleteMOL! Or NOT so "subtle!"

ReplyDeleteOMC! Cody is so funny! I hope you both had an easy fast, Caren and Cody (though it sounds as if Cody's was quite a bit easier). :)

Purrs Tillie and Georgia,

awwwww - and being such a good boy :)
ReplyDelete24 minutes is fasting for Cody......LOLOLOLOLOL! He looked like he was a purrfect gentleman about the whole thing. What a good boy Cody!
ReplyDeletePoor Cody. It might even have been an HOUR since you had some fudz! A boy could STARVE. The Roamin' Catlicks has some fast days, too (though not 24 hours' worth at once!) but the Human knows what little swords I have lurking in my sweet and innocent little pawsies so she'd never *DARE* to involve me in any of her shenanigans. I hope.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Friends ;-)
Cody, how can you possibly fast for 24 minutes. It's like... forever! I know I could not!
ReplyDeletePurrs
MOL!!! We're still laughing at Cody's 24 minute fast!
ReplyDeleteSounds all too familiar!
We hope you had a wonderful celebration!
xxoo
What sweet photos. We can't believe you just sat on the chairs? Did you even attempt to get onto the table?
ReplyDeleteOh I always sit on the chairs......read the comments I left above about the table lol
DeleteNo place setting for you, Cody? Many years ago, some Jewish friends of Mom (we are not Jewish) invited her to a Yom Kippur "break the fast" and she decided to fast also. She knows what those killer headaches are like when you don't eat all day! She really enjoyed the experience.
ReplyDeleteI think that was so nice of your Mom to do that! Not many people would fast when it wasn't even their holiday! Your Mom is one cool lady!
Deletexoxo
Cody just cracks both of us up! my tea nearly went awol!xx Rachel
ReplyDeleteMOL!! Rachel thanks for making me laugh! xoxo
DeleteCody has such great manners! I would reward with treats...one for Cody, one for me...one for Cody, one for me.... Don't tell!
ReplyDeleteWe give him an A+ for not sitting on the table! But then, we suspect he has better manners than we do. Thanks for joining us at our party today. We are having so much fun! Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Misty May, Mauricio, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
