He was the cat of author Gwen Cooper who I first met on Twitter back in 2010. Homer's book, Homer's Odyssey was also the first book I had reviewed on Cat Chat as well as, EVER.
My heart is hurting for Gwen, I don't have eloquent words to share, just my deepest sympathy and love.
Homer, THANK YOU for being a most AMAZING YOU, Gwen, thank you for sharing Homer with the world and teaching the public that not only do BLACK CATS make wonderful pets, but BLACK CATS, BLIND CATS and any cat with a disability is just as able to give and receive love as any cat can.
Our deepest love and sympathy,
Caren and Cody

I just posted the portrait I did of my cat Baby when she died. I sure hope there is a kitty Heaven.
ReplyDeleteYes there is, it's called catnip heaven and there are just millions of untold miles of it:) As soon as they eat it grows fresh again. That's where all kitties go after crossing the rainbow bridge. Of course that is where I will be heading when it is time for me to see my kitties again.
DeleteOh no! I read Homer's Odyssey earlier this month and I was so happy to learn that Homer was still alive and well. Gwen's love for this cat was so apparent throughout the book. I wish her a lot of courage in these difficult times.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words, Caren and Cody...Homer was an extra special little boy who will always be remembered.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tribute to a wonder kitty. We'll always remember Homer, and his mom too.

What a wonderful cat soul Homer is. May his sight be restored at the Rainbow Bridge, though I am sure he would do just fine without it. Purrs to his Mom Gwen.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tribute to a very wonderful soul. WE are hurting just like so many others are, our prayers go out to Gwen and her family. Homer was Gwen's special heart kitty and we can really understand how she feels about the loss of Homer. We are keeping them all in our prayers and in our hearts.

My human found out Gwen lost Homer when she was at the airport waiting for the plane to bring her home. We're very sad here - Homer was one of my heroes.

So not easy losing a furbaby they always take a piece of your heart with them when they go only because they can't let go either and so that we never forget the love they taught and have given us in return.
ReplyDeleteThey definitely precious angels! ♥ So sorry for your loss! ♥
this is very sad for the kitties in this world and his family!xx Speedy and Rachel
ReplyDeleteA beautiful tribute to a very special Mancat. Run free, Homer!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this I just loved Homer's Odyssey...My thoughts are with Gwen and her family
ReplyDeleteWe are sorry to hear about the loss of Homer. He clearly had a big impact on the world while he was here.
ReplyDeleteWe are so very sad Homer has left but his story will still live on and touch so many more people.
ReplyDeleteThat precious, precious boy. We were so very sad to hear that news.
ReplyDeleteThere are really no words ……. xx
ReplyDeleteThis is very sad. I loved "Homer's Odyssey", and "friended" him on Facebook after reading the book. I learned of Homer on the "Cats 101" show on Animal Planet. Coincidentally, that episode also featured the Turkish Van breed. I had two Vans, until my beloved Faerie had to be put to sleep on Friday. I sent Gwen a note, letting her know that Faerie would befriend Homer, as she loves companionship, whether human or cat.
ReplyDeleteThe loss of Homer has left us and our head peep very sad. He touched so many people, and there's no way to count how many special needs cats have found homes as a result of his story. Our hearts go out to Gwen and her family.
ReplyDeleteI got the news early this morning - very sad news. Homer will always be a special kitty to so many people.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't know Homer but it is obvious he was well loved by many. That is a life well lived for any living being. Rest in peace sweet boy.

ReplyDeleteVery sad. I discovered Homer had a facebook page, purely by coincidence, four hours after Gwen announced his passing. Homer's Odyssey actually inspired me to start my blog.
ReplyDeleteWe were very sad to hear about Homer's passing too.....Homer was total proof (as if we cat people needed it) that cats SEE with their hearts. He was such a very special guy and Gwen was the perfect person to help guide him through the lovely life he led.
