We all know the frustration we experience when we bring home a new toy for our finicky friends and they rush straight for the BOX or for some other obscure item lying on the floor such as pens, paper clips, rubber bands, you know, things that you DIDN'T purchase for them to play with!
Understanding how the felines in our lives think, the folks at Friskies are at it again! Ever on the cutting-edge, they devised a kit which contains common household items such as spoons, crumpled paper, paper cups, yarn, etc. to answer the age old question "Will Kitty Play With It?"
Friskies recorded videos of cats playing with various household items the first of which appeared on February 15th and you can see it right here:
The remaining videos of the series can be seen on the Friskies Facebook Page by clicking here and other DIY toys will be available for viewing on the Friskies Pinterest page on their DIY Homemade Cat Toys board.
Friskies even had their cat blogger panel get in on the fun! We were sent a "Will Kitty Play With It?" kit that contained a purple box, magic marker, red plastic cup, string and paper to crumble. We received an instruction sheet and were on our way to see if our kitties would "play with it!"
I had a nagging feeling about testing these items with Cody. Why? Being the laziest and often most uncooperative cat (when it comes to videos) what do YOU think happened? Check these out...and if nothing else you should get a laugh at my miserable video skills!
Think your cat(s) will do better than Cody? Friskies wants you to find out! They have generously offered 20 "Will Kitty Play With It" kits for my readers!
If you would like one, leave a comment on this post telling me what unusual household object your cat(s) like to play with! Give-away is open to U.S. ONLY and starts now and will end on Tuesday, February 26th at 5pm ET. Be sure I have a way to contact you if you are one of the lucky winners! Winners will be chosen by www.random.org and will be announced Wednesday, February 27th.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!
I was not compensated for this post. I was sent a "Will Kitty Play With It?" kit to review and share with my readers. All opinions are mine and Cody's!
Cody! Look at all your toys! You lucky lucky boy!
ReplyDeleteYeah Cody is one lucky kitty!
DeleteBelieve it or not, a few times a year we DO donate his virtually unused ones and we also give some to other kitties that we may know. We always give back!
DeleteDixie cups and my contact lens case are the new favorite "toys" in our house! My two boys (Harry and Frank) love to "help" me when I'm getting ready to go to work or getting ready to go to bed. By "helping" they tend to knock off and play with any Dixie cup I may have out or if I'm not fast enough, they'll go for my contact lens case. Good thing they're cute! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a pawsome lot of toys. Have a terrific Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
I watched these videos last night and think it's such a fun idea. I love the at home kit too. It's funny that Cody wants the box lol - typical cat! I think you did a good job on the videos.
ReplyDeletethank you but they are pitiful!
DeleteHahaha we had to comment because we laughed and laughed at the videos. I can tell you I have 5 kitties that do not play. much. at. all. Especially Abby. But that is age I think. But she is just not interested. So we dont want to take someone else's chance away who does love to play. But the videos are priceless!!!
ReplyDeletethanks so much Abby lol. Those videos were just pitiful!
DeleteI decided just the other day to stop buying cat toys that he won't play with and to buy hair ties instead. I expect to find a big nest of hair ties somewhere someday.
ReplyDeletemilene_hollon@yahoo.com
Oh Cody, you are just like Eric. He won't play with anything unless it suits him. I can't wait to get my paws on anything new.
ReplyDeleteFlynn
I think Eric and I need to schedule a play date...we'll come to YOU!
DeleteLove, Cody
Oh my cat! What an interesting idea! Magic marker? Maxwell- check! Allie - no way. Crumpled paper - score one for all three kitties.
ReplyDeleteOf course, we three must lodge a complaint about the string - that requires a human's cooperation (sadly lackign over here!!).
They should have had crumbled up wrapping tissue! That would have been lots more fun.
ReplyDeleteI AGREE :)
DeleteLooks like a lot fun.. Great videos.. Hugs GJ xx
ReplyDeletethank you GJ!
DeleteAha, we are not in the US of A. Never mind, Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar has told me to forward this posting to all those social networking sites. Yep, even 'Farcebook' :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck, y'all.
Penny's human,
Gary
We will pass on the contest, but I did really enjoy those videos!
ReplyDeletethey are pitiful!
DeleteGracie is obsessed with ponytail hairbands. She flips them up in the air with her paw and then leaps around trying to catch them. She especially loves it when I connect them together so they resemble a snake. Benjamin loves any kind of paper bag. No size is too small to fit in. I even have a picture of him when he burst through a sandwich bag. P.S. Thanks for all your supportive comments lately. I haven't been able to comment much do to a new series of issues with my broken house. Have a great evening.
ReplyDeleteyou are welcome! Ugh!!! Hoping everything clears up for you soon!
DeleteHow cool. Forget kitty we will play
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
MOL
Deletemy cats play with cranberries.
ReplyDeleteThe other day they turned the carbon monoxide detector into a toy..
uh oh!
DeleteKatie is a well-mannered ladycat and plays only with her prettiest toys.
ReplyDeleteWaffles Too is torn between my toes and Katie's tail.
; )
Thanks for entering us in the giveaway!

My kitties will turn almost anything into a toy! Their favorite 'real' cat toy is the Da Bird! They all go nuts over that. Favorite non-real toy would be anything laying around, like a pen or clothes pin, or whatever else!
ReplyDeleteMilita loves to bat around paper balls! Carmine might play with a paper ball; I have never given him one to try. Both of them seem to like to knock things off counters and my desk, too. Haha :)
ReplyDeleteThose videos are very funny and that is because the cats here would ALL do the very same thing. There are certain toys that certain cats like and they sure aren't the same thing. That is kind of a fun idea but don't put us down. Love Dakota barking in the other room. Hope all of you have a great day.
ReplyDeleteas for Dakota barking...want him? lol...Kidding!
DeleteLucy's favorite toy so far seems to be my feet - go figure! seems like it is a great thing to chase and climb on - especially when I wiggle my toes :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks like fun! My one cat loves his strings and the other one loves flashlights, toy mice, balls, kibble pieces, hmm, everything! Thanks for letting us enter!
ReplyDeleteOink oink,
Katie and Coccolino the mini pig
I can't leave small tomatoes such as cherry tomatoes out on my counter; Timmy will have them on the floor batting them around, he must think they are little red balls! If I drop a baby carrot on the floor, he has fun with those too; not so fun for me though when they get knocked under the refrigerator and I have to get them out, lol!
ReplyDeleteI love watching kitty videos with playful kitties.
ReplyDeleteOur kitties love big ol long pieces of brown crackly wrapping paper. They love to pounce on it, roll on it, get under it, and if I drag it on the floor they chase it and pounce and bite and tear it. They are crazy kitties! MOL
best fishes to everee one N cody we hopez ewe haza grate week oh end !
ReplyDeletewe hope you have a great weekend too!
DeleteI love the way Cody looks so interested in the first video..Have a wonderful Furiday xx00xx
ReplyDeleteMollie and Alfie
Mollie I liked that too...he was actually listening lol. You have a wonderful Friday as well! xoxo
DeleteCody is so CUTE! Btw I never seen a cat with so many cat toys! =)
ReplyDeletethank you!!! Read what I wrote above!! He DOES give back!
DeleteSo many toys! So many things that ought to be toys! The milk jug rings are the best. No, wait, straws or straws looped in a knot. Or paper towel rolls or maybe the whole roll of paper towels! Foil balls, oh, we can't decide! Love this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteTwisties from the bread bags is our favorite with the milk cap rings second. we love stuff around the house best.
ReplyDeletecats of wildcat woods
Purrs to you and Cody! We know Odin would be game. EVERYTHING is a toy to him.
ReplyDeleteWE know Cody is thinking: Give me the darn BOX, Mom!!
ReplyDeleteAnd out of nowhere they suddenly want to play with toys they haven't played with in ages! So typical cat!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! This is the funniest concept I have heard of in a long time! Kizmet is, BAR NONE, the ultimate crumpled up paper ball champion in the world and will DEFINITELY play with it!! His nightly habit when we go to bed at night is to bring any crumpled ball he can find to us while we are tucked in... we then have to throw it on the floor for him to fetch and bring back... which he would do all night if we let him!! I can guarantee our kitties would be cattastic spokescats for "Will Kitty Play With It?"
ReplyDeleteBOL! Oh this is Hilarious! Hahahhahhaha! Cody what's up dude OMD BOL! What a super fun contest Friskies came up with! I wish they had one like this for doggies Oh Too Much Fun! Ha! :D
ReplyDeleteWaggin at ya,
Roo
My cats like to play with the wireless mouse. It has been found in some most unusual places! woo woo!
ReplyDeleteOur list includes golf tees, styrofoam peanuts, pens, kneaded erasers stolen from my drawing board, paper clips, generally any small object NOT meant to be a cat toy...
ReplyDeletexxoo
Maggie's Tommie, Grace Lillian, and Mickey Mouser
I guess in this instance, Cody's answer was "no." ;)
ReplyDeleteMoosey loves string and water. As for the cats at the shelter, many seem to be fascinated by pens.
We already won a "Will Kitty Play with It" kit, so you don't have to enter us in the drawing. :)
Hugs!
Love that first video =)
ReplyDeleteMy brats love straws-go figure!
We did laugh at all the toys Cody has! We think he should never be bored. We like to play with hair accessories - clips, pony tail rubber bands, whatever is little and good for batting around. Bread ties are great too.
