It's easy to get the two words mixed up, Cody! Typical humans, never making things clear enough. I'm just glad it is veterans, and not veterinarians we are celebrating today!
We know some really cool veterinarians (not necessarily the ones who give us shots) but aren't sure about giving them their own day. We'll stick with Veterans Day, have a good one.
While veterinarians do a BIG job to keep us dogs, cats, etc. safe (whether we like it or not!!!), our Veterans keep us, our humans, and the whole world safe so it's nice we have today to thank them for that. As for my veterinarian - I'll thank him with a nice love bite next time I see him....HAHAHAHA
Caren, I almost got fooled! Actually thought the holiday was celebrated tomorrow in the U.S. and today in Canada. Thanks for posting. We honor all those who fought for our countries.
lol Layla....technically the holiday in the U.S. (traditionally) is celebrated on November 11. It has since turned into one of those convoluted pre-fabbed holidays that they celebrate on a Monday....yes...banks and post offices are closed in the U.S. tomorrow but the history books state that it technically is November 11 :)
It is confusing isn't it Cody. We call it Armistice Day and it is always on November 11th, and this year it falls on the same day as Remembrance Sunday. Remembrance Sunday is always the second Sunday in November.
PHEW!!! Thank COD Cody set us all straight! I know, I know...I'm supposed to be "grateful" for my Vet-doctor-guy. But not today, right??
Today we're honoring the heros in our lives. We thank them for their service and selflessness. We thank them for loving our country and our people so much that they are willing to lay down their lives for our freedom.
Oh my! I hope we NEFUR have the other kind of vet's day ::shudder::!! The Human's Dad was a Marine Corps captain who served in the South Pacfic for 3+ years and then was sent to occupy Japan. He's been gone for many years now, but we honor him today and efurry day.

Cody, we love your take on Vet's Day & wish we had thought of it! The mom thinks her dad spent his army time peeling potatoes, fortunately her uncle was a pilot in the Airforce and some of her cousins are Marines.
RUFF!!!!!!! Excellent way to acknowledge Veterans Day!! I thought for sure my human told me it was Veterinarians Day too- but he explained it too me. Love your post though- wish I'd thought of it. Noah
So glad you got that veteran vs veternarian thing all straightened out, Cody. I mean... celebrating the veterans is a good thing. A great thing! A yoo-hoo YOO-HOO thing!!! But celebratin' the veternarians? Well... I must admit, I do celebrate a little when I'm LEAVING the clinic! purrs
Phew, thanks for clearing that up, Cody! I was afraid I'd have to go give my Vet a gift *shudder*
