Animal Rescue Superhighway, A Guest Blog By Melanie VanNuys

The Animal Rescue Superhighway was created out of our deep sense of respect and love of our four-legged family members. We're very passionate! We picture a world in which every pet has a loving, forever home, free of fear, abuse and neglect.

But merely picturing this Utopian world was doing nothing to move us any closer to that end. I grew tired of sitting idly by and “wishing” to make a difference. I started thinking. Being fully aware of the incredible power the Internet has...it hit me. What if I could leverage that power in helping create this world? I envisioned a resource unlike ANY other…A website that is bursting at the seams with legitimate, authoritative, relevant and valuable information for like-minded, concerned pet owners. A place to come with any question and have the peace of mind that trusted knowledge will be there waiting. And best of all - I wanted it to be FREE!

We also wanted to lift the barriers that prevent putting pets in loving, forever homes simply because they were separated by a few miles. Thanks, in part, to the vast reach of the Internet, we have been able to grow a vast network of volunteers who so graciously give of their time when an animal is in need. Because of this group, the Animal Rescue Superhighway has been able to transport animals more than 17,000 miles – out of death’s grip and into homes where they finally know what it’s like to be loved.

We enjoy our pets. They make us laugh. They love us unconditionally. They even lower our stress level. Animal Rescue Superhighway is more than just another animal website. We aim to teach others how to be responsible pet owners through education and advice from others. Here you can find information on topics such as proper health, nutrition, pet-friendly travel, pet adoption and overall care of their cats.

We invite you to visit the Animal Rescue Superhighway and see how you can become involved. With this New Year comes an exciting new venture and we can’t wait to share it with you!

Until they all have a home…
Melanie

  5. Hello Melanie VanNuys!! Thank you Caren for this fab guest post! I've just had a gander at this amazing site and thoroughly love it!! I think it really is invaluable and has such potential too. I particularly like the Ask the Vet section. Too often I'm left researching so much of my kitties' medications, illnesses and I could spend hours just filtering through so many sites for advice pertinent to my kitties' conditions. So yay!! Thank you for setting this resource up Melanie VanNuys!! All the best with it - I've bookmarked it. Take care

  9. Wow - I'm bookmarking their link. About a year ago I could have used the service of a pet transport in relocation Graham from Green Bay to the west coast. As it turned out, he was adopted locally, and transport was not needed. But there for awhile it looked like the only option available. Thanks for post this blogger as a guest or I never would have heard about it.

  13. I was reading the other day in a news magazine I receive of some dumb lady in Kent (S.E. England)who took in a cat from a local rescue centre. Noble & lovely I thought. However the news item continued to report that the lady returned the cat as ...." the colour clshed with her lounge curtains"
Pathetic sad lady. The poor cat, there again I guess he was well rid of her.

  18. What a great organization! This sort of thing wouldn't have been possible without the advent of the internet. I'm forever amazed at the difference this one simple "tool" has made in the lives of many.

  19. All,

I apologize for not replying to everyone before now. We have had no Internet due to an accident near our home.

I am so touched by all of your comments and kind words and look forward to talking with all of you individually.

Until they all have a home...

  21. So many unwanted animals (and non-fur kids!) and so few good homes. It's a sad world.

Thanks for the purrs. Au ate again so we're hoping he's on an upswing. We really appreciate your support.

  22. My comment vanished again. Weird. Hope you find homes for all those unwanted fur friends.

  23. @Au nope! Your comment didn't disappear! My apologies! I have comment moderating enabled, (no comments get posted til I review them first, then once I ok them and hit "publish" they are posted). I had to do this because last year I had someone posting very rude comments. Sometimes it takes me longer to read them and ok them and I apologize!
I am soooo glad that Au is eating and that he seems to be doing better that is FABULOUS news!
About today's post, I wish that all unwanted animals could find furever homes and I know that we all wish the same! xoxoxo
